This hand wringing about eliminating any sort of police force is just stupid.

Police forces in the USA aren't militarized just because they have an old MRAP in the garage that is such an albatross even the DOD doesn't want to deal with it anymore. In fact police forces in France (which literally has a military police) and Germany project way more force than American cops, and they have a fraction of America's violent crime rate. Ever heard of the Guardia Civil? They make your average CPD officer look like Mr. Rogers.

I do agree though, its stupid to eliminate police. Too bad that's obvious what's going to happen one way or another.

you need to drop whatever delusions you are under that the USA is not one of the most crime ridden countries on earth. even the statistics (which aren't pretty) are obviousy fraudulent and dramatically underscore the epidemic of violent crime in the USA.

considering that your options are A) heavily armed police or B) corrupt police that dont give a fuck, like you'd find in South Africa, Ukraine or Belarus.

There's a difference between your everyday officer and a member of an elite task force...at least there should be.

The Gendarmes and Guardia Civil are everywhere in France and Spain. They are everyday officers on the highways and in the countryside, and they are literally members of the military. As far as militarization of police goes it does not get any more militarized than that.

Yet rural France and rural Spain have some of the lowest crime rates in the world. And let me tell you, these are not wealthy places. There's not a lot of money in Picardie these days.

The greatest threat to investment in a market economy is uncertainty. And a world where property rights and contracts have no enforcement from the government tends to be a world of high uncertainty.

Lawrence O'Donnell read it last night, it's causing me to rethink my position on capital punishment.

Only one cop seemed to even give lip service to the law. Which far too often seems like par for the course.

There are serious calls for DeBlowsio to leave office. Trouble is they'd just bring on another liberal bag of shit to replace him.

just read the transcript....not...good. Policing needs a 180 culture shift. I don't care if the dude was high and I don't care that he potentially just committed a crime. The situation called for detaining him with no escalation and safety and all...ya know "protect and serve". This was nothing of the sort. Sad...and yes...par for the course.

Spot on.

The police have a tough job, but they make it infinitely more difficult with the lack of trust in the communities where they work.

Yep. When I saw Deblowsio on the street today painting the Black Lives Matter communist logo on the street, what are cops left to do but quit? It is sickening what these asshole Dem. Mayors are doing in this country. While countless innocent people in these cities are being gunned down, these assholes are supporting communist anarchist movements.

No it won't. Big money is leaving New York in droves. Big money leaving means the city revenue is leaving. Same thing is going to happen across the country. States run by Republican mayors and governors will benefit like they already are.

You are a total idiot. I guess you want the police departments to be run by sissy boys like you. The latest ad by the Trump team regarding eliminating police departments is on target. Pun intended.

Hey, Yellow Piss. You are the biggest embarrassment on this board. Get a different name BTW. Taking the name of a great hockey player is a huge slur to his legacy. Find a sports entity with a lowlife reputation that more befits your posting legacy. Something like SamME Soso or Colon Crapinneck.
