No not Superman's. Or Batman's. The one that sticks out in the Atlantic. With lobster rolls, pleasant mariners' winds, east coast microbrews and the best little radio station I've heard this side of Santa Cruz. This radio station streams live all the time, including a weekly blues show and a weekly Dead show. They also have numerous live shows, special concerts, local gigs and many past programs archived and available for free Mp3 downloading. So it's got that going for it. Which is nice. The Cape would actually be pretty high on the recommended list for summer beach hideaways if it weren't for all the obnoxious Sawx fans. It reminds me that Chicago has no exclusive on baseball whackos. What is it about baseball that brings out the asshole in us? Happy summer.

Ahoy, polloi.

I love Cape Cod as well.

I actually prefer the Outer Banks of North Carolina to the Cape. In North Carolina the beaches are cleaner and much less crowded, and the water is warmer. While the food is typically much better on the Cape, it's also much more expensive--and you still can find some good cheap bbq in NC, if you look carefully.

I actually prefer southern beaches too, TM, but once every ten years isn't bad for a Cape summer. The Outer Banks, though, is a no go for our family. About ten years ago, we had a house in Kill Devil Hills and our kids were playing in just a few feet of shallow water in an inflatable raft and a rip tide (it was green flags on the beach so the rip was unexpected) took my kids out to deep water very quickly. I was on the beach nearby and sprinted to save them. I won't go into the all the dramatic details, but I almost drowned too. We were seconds away from losing all of them. Yes it could happen anywhere. But my wife wants nothing to do with the Outer Banks.
