Welp there goes another few pointless blocks of airtime that the idiots at the Score have to find replacement programming for. You'd think it wouldn't be hard but...

I'm not in marathon condition this year anyway.

I'm definitely not. But when I started running every day in '07 after I had let myself get unacceptably fat, I resolved that one day I'd run the Chicago Marathon, but kept putting it off. I said I'd do it if I ever got down to a 30-inch waistline but my trash genes won't let me go under 34.

Your knees thank your genetic predisposition, trust me. My own knees & I wish I'd have listened to their barking 25 years ago.

You know that your old track teammate just had both of his replaced about 2 years ago.

34 is . . . real skinny, isn't it? I'm real thin, and I'm a 36.

Yeah, but I didn't think it was that long ago. Hallway meets & practices were a bitch, and frankly there wasn't anything he didn't think he could be competitive in up to two miles. And tried.

I gave up distance when I passed 30" myself. 400 & 800M were much more fun anyways.

I go between 34 and 36 and I think I'm a big midwestern lunk. Never got to pull off the emaciated hipster look. And forget about ever wearing skinny jeans, I don't think I've owned a flattering pair of jeans in my life.

It's too complicated / expensive to get into this particular event. There are other options that are much better.
I did Marathons in 2013, 2014, and 2015. My favorite was the Fox Valley Marathon in St. Charles. I hope someday to get back into good enough shape to do it again, unfortunately I seem to be encountering a physical problem each summer.

I'm surprised it took this long to cancel this one....oh well. Gotta love cancelling yet another healthy event that is the type of activity you WANT people doing in these uncertain times.

May have been a year. Bumped into him a few weeks ago and he was talking about racing some dude outside of the Cotton Club back in the day for more than a couple of dollars. He said the dude was fast as hell but he took him by putting it into another gear.

yeah, I'm there as well. I'm pretty firm at 36". In 2013 I shriveled down to a 33" waist, but that's not sustainable.

I always laugh at HS classmates....so many were once skinny twigs. while yes, I'm bigger now, I can honestly say I was never a skinny rail.

If Frank runs on to the field at Guaranteed Rate during a game off duty cops will thrash him to within an inch of his life, yet marathon's encourage participation by amateurs.

We indulge this pure narcissism

There is some mom on our team who told me she is training for the marathon. If I can't tell by looking at you, what's the point. There are a few fatties from the neighborhood who have completed the race

If you're an adult man above 165 or woman above 105-110 and roughly average height, it's not really for you. But then again, unless there's a real competition, running has bored the hell out of me once I quit running track. And it started showing not long thereafter  .

Damn....RR....you're still my guy.

5' 8" and over 2 spins....I still like running.

That’s silly. I know lots of guys and gals who don’t fit that generalization who are fine, healthy runners and have run some impressive marathons and much longer distances than that.

Of course there are many, but there's a reason the truly elite runners start well ahead of the pretenders who are racing the 3-4-5 hour marks.

Well if the baseline for whether it is “for you” or not is being an elite athlete, then yes you are correct. I am a 4-hour marathoner who weighs more than 165, and I know running is definitely for me.

34 was my fat jeans size Which.. unfortunately is the new normal. Was 31 or 32 for a while there a few years ago. Need to drop a few again.. my knees and ankles would thank me.

Humblebrag.

I've run close to 50 marathons @ average waist size 36.
