The National Retail Federation (NRF) is encouraging all retailers to adopt a nationwide policy that requires customers to wear face coverings.

In a statement on Wednesday, the group applauded companies that have already mandated a nationwide mask policy, including Walmart, Starbucks, Best Buy, BJ’s Wholesale Club, Apple, Qurate Retail Group and Costco.

“Shopping in a store is a privilege, not a right. If a customer refuses to adhere to store policies, they are putting employees and other customers at undue risk,” NRF said in a statement.

Yeah I agree. I don't think we're coming back from the no mask thing. I'm sure they will stop being mandatory at some point but our collective psyche has been altered, and I think there will be a perception that remains even after a vaccine that if you arent wearing a mask in public you're a selfish asshole.

That's not true. I would estimate at least 40% of people I see in Naperville are walking/driving/biking around in masks right now. I think you're way off base if you're under the impression people are only doing this inside and in crowds.

I don't think its as high as 40%, but I too have seen a number of people alone in their cars and outside not near a soul and they are wearing a mask.

I took my son to a nature preserve this morning and while we were walking around, I would guess nearly 1/3 of the people either were wearing a mask or pulled their mask up over their face as we walked by, at well more than 6' away.

There are other ways to halt the effects besides a healthy immune system. Wearing a mask is one of them.

I do have to laugh when I see somebody biking or driving alone with a mask on. A few weeks ago I saw some guy cutting his lawn with a mask on. Nobody else was within 50' of him.

Yea, thats why i was saying it was rare, was driving the other day with my daughters and saw a guy walking down the street with no one within 100 yards of him and he had it on. We all remarked "well, that's a first"
