No deal with Comcast for marquee. It was a bad idea to start the network in the first place.
So now potentially a million plus cubs fans might not get to see opening day in a sports starved summer.
You kinda have to fire him right?

Can't stand the guy, but we don't know if it's him or Ricketts holding out.

I think Comcrap is going to lose a couple hundred thousand customers. Hulu will benefit from this mostly.

The window closed on team-owned RSNs years ago while the Cubs were still locked into their old TV deals, but then they went ahead and did it anyway because they always said they were going to. Sure, fire him.

Long time ago this was predicted by me with my LA family with the Dodgers.

Totally. Their sexual tension is palpable.

No chance. It’s not a bug, it’s a feature. Hell I just committed to two more years and now I feel better about it. :alien:

Kenny seems to have one of those Reinsdorf contracts where he is employed for life, despite general mediocre production.

I’ll take Marquee a 1000% over having the games spread across multiple stations. It’s too early to say if it will generate the additional revenue to help support payroll and stadium improvements. But if that happens, then it will be worth it.

Hulu has been a godsend over DTV.

It's not like you have to find the games. Either press a button on your remote or turn on The Score.

I think the era of RSN rent-seeking is over.

I am a Comcast customer, and just canceled the $10/month sports package (considering the Cubs are gone and the other teams aren’t playing).

There seems to be two possibilities...Comcast caves and puts Marquee on the basic tier and charges ALL customers an extra $4 or $5 per month, or the Cubs cave and Marquee is a stand-alone channel. If the latter happens, will I be able to order Marquee for the $4 or $5, or will I have to pony up for the sports package but now pay $14-15?

They would charge way more as a premium channel than they would have as a basic, probably more like $20 a month.

I hated comcrap, 600 channels and jackshit to watch. Now I pay 90$ to comcrap for high speed and get Hulu, Amazon, Netflix..much better programing for the same price.

The games were a pain to find on DTV’s guide.

I guess a shitty company like comcast has no responsibility for the lack of a deal.

Yeah we discussed this before. I guess we will see if the Cubs can monetize this better than selling the rights to other stations. The worst that can happen is they cancel Marquee and go back the other way.

The whole act of starting Marquee was stabbing Comcast in the back. This was always going to happen.

It's Al Yellon but it seems pretty definitive.

I always knew this would turn into SportsVision 2.0

If they get the deal with Comcast mentioned in the above post, you will have been 100% wrong, of course

It's Al Yellon but it seems pretty definitive.

Al still knows a lot of people in TV, his day job was as a producer for local TV - I want to say Channel 7 news but I am not sure.

The big fuckup is the MLB.TV blackout rules. In NC I am blacked out from Nationals and Orioles, which is a joke because any non-transplants are Braves fans. But I can watch Cubs games while my dad cannot.

My dad gets a Comcast bundle through his complex and then I just pay extra for internet. If they make Marquee a tier instead of equal with NBCSC, I'm going to be pissed.

Chet, I can’t directly stream Hulu through my tv up north because it is out of my home market. However, I can watch Hulu on my ipad or phone. Then I just send the signal to the tv through the mobile device. Easy enough.

How did you mirror Ipad to wireless TV?

Of course the CFMB television experts are wrong again.

Both devices need to be on the same wifi signal. Launch the Hulu app or similar. When the video is running on the mobile device, there is a symbol (see airplay graphic below) that you click on. Then you can send it to smart tv’s.

How about a deal where only bars in Chicago that do not serve food and have Comcast can show the games?
