The comments at the end of Yahoo articles were always scary, usually a bunch of caps or racist garbage. The overall decline of Yahoo with its ad cluttered pages is truly sad. Yahoo Finance used to be a terrific property.

I don't believe there is some right to post comments on YouTube or Facebook or Yahoo, or this site. Yahoo is under no actual obligation to allow the general public to spew filth a few screen inches away from their stories.

That being said, something is a little...off...when "public interest", the reporting of which is the very core of the journalist profession, and indeed the justification for more unscrupulous actions (calling a child like Sandmann a racist [or repeating others doing so], revealing the name, address and personal information of the maker of a GIF the President tweeted out) undertaken by members of the profession, ceases to be of importance as if by some instantaneous magic. So yes, the "public interest" allows for writing and publishing a story on where the latest victim of massive social media outrage lives and works, but the public's interest as vested in comments on the article will not be tolerated because sometimes they're mean?

Yeah I liked that too, but I’m sure the qanon/magtards would have ruined it as well.
