60 game season so technically it's been about 8 games.

Good question - not just Minn but rest of the league. Ya it looks great on paper but lets see how it pans out. Most of these guys are either young or new to the team. It takes some time to gel too. 60 games may be too short for that but at least it builds the foundation for next season.

Twins are good. I'm not in a panic over losing the series to them.

Gotta go 15-5 against the Royals and Tigers.

5-5 against the Indians. You can go 4-6 against the Twins. Split the 20 games against the national league central.

And that will probably be good enough to be the 8th seed in the playoffs.

Expanded playoffs and the schedule means it will take colossal fuck up not to make it. Two of the teams are are not even trying and just a matter of beating Twins or Indians. Plus they will still likely end up with a 7 or 8 even if they do not pass those two in standings.

Mariners, Royals, Tigers, and Orioles have no chance. So 8 out of the 11 remaining teams make it. The Angels and Rangers are at a decided disadvantage because their schedules are harder and both had worse pitching trouble than the White Sox today (Otani got pulled after letting six straight guys on base with no outs, Kluber left after an inning).

So that means the White Sox are basically playing the Buffalo Blue Jays for the 8th playoff spot.

I find all of this shit very funny. They are one game behind and three games have been played in a season which is beset with weird shit all around. "No more excuses"? What "excuses"? How about they played three games against a very good loaded team which is favored in the division and got beat in two of the games.

The Twins are definitely the team to beat in the AL as far as I am concerned but the Sox have a good chance also. Lopez should have told them that something was wrong and that is on him. I saw that very early on in how short his stride was on his fastball and how open he was. that was the reason why his pitches tailed so much and why his velocity was down from normal.

the problem still is there. they got out of it tonight but what's going to happen in the future. its a bad habit they need to break or get someone in there that will stress pitching and defense.

Its hard to tell right now. The Twins have more veteran hitters and these guys are good. They may be a bit better at this point in time but next year their guys will mostly be on the later stages of their careers while the majority of the Sox guys are pretty young.
