Has anyone other than me tried to pull you off the ledge? There's like 13 people in the country who enjoy wearing masks. It's NOT going to catch on when this is over.

I think you're very wrong about this. MANY people are reveling in the masked society. Masks are here to stay. Part of the New Normal.

I'm not sure. I go back and forth on it. I think there will be a sizable push to make it the new normal, but there is also a very significant faction of the country that is vehemently against masks, and it doesn't fall down strict partisan lines like has been generally portrayed by the media. And the anti mask folks tend to be a bit more visceral in their reactions

I think it'll very simply come down to jurisdictions. Where the mask zealots have consolidated power they'll keep making more and more draconian measures to mask people, I dont think jail is at all out of the question for people who flaunt the orders in some of these places.

There is silent majority that wear masks indoors or in crowded areas. Otherwise, no mask.

Unfortunately, as usual, the loudest are the NO MASK or PRO MASK crazies.

I think the question being posed here is when people are comfortable not wearing masks again, not where people are currently wearing them. It is certainly plausible that parts of the USA will be now and forever masked societies.

IN DUE TIME, the masks will disappear.

I dont know. Maybe it will, maybe it wont. I have a feeling the outcome of the election will dictate the "science" on whether one should wear a mask.

I think your thoughts on this come from anecdotal evidence. You've had some bad luck running into the exceptions to the rule.

There will always be viruses and bacteria. Why would you want to spread them? Are you a heartless fiend who cares nothing about my frail grandma? Wear your damn mask!

Your anti-mask ramblings are more dramatic as the ALWAYS MASK crowd.

That people are relying on the government and others for their own health. Your mask protects me, not you remember?

Quote:
Early this week, Delta Air Lines made news after a plane headed to Atlanta circled back to its gate in Detroit, delaying takeoff. The crew was returning to expel two passengers who had been unwilling to follow a new but quintessential coronavirus rule.

They had refused to don masks.

That transgression is the latest addition to a bevy of infractions that can get you booted from an aircraft — even before contagion racked our world. Those no-nos vary wildly in severity and how often they're enforced, but the theoretical gamut is wide: from a joke about, say, hijacking, to smoking a cigarette ... all the way to more serious acts like transporting illegal contraband like guns or drugs.

And, then there's the 2018 case when a traveler was banned from a United Airlines flight for trying to take an "emotional support peacock" along with her. (She opted to drive across the country instead, a BBC report says.)

When it comes to the new rules for the novel coronavirus, airlines like Delta are taking them very seriously. So far, the carrier has banned 100 anti-maskers from taking their flights and gone a step further by adding them to a "no fly" list.

woah.

airline no fly list not fed no fly list but tough nonetheless

Of all the places to refuse to wear a mask, a plane is probably the dumbest. Those things are contamination centers

You're going to make yourself ill, please step away from the virus talk. All anyone knows with any degree of certainty is that no one knows anything else about it with any degree of certainty.

That's kind of been my point all along. We're making decisions that are changing the way we are living and the way we are going to live based on uncertainties.

But you've also been correctly suggesting that the status quo we've been swearing to for the last forty years has needed to be changed. We've been in fairytale land and compounding the problems we're all facing for far too long.
