That crashed so loudly 430 feet away, the CF got a concussion. And Woodruff got whiplash.

That was the loudest blast I heard today. 2nd loudest was over in Beirut

I think that the Sox are trying to save the number of call ups of their better minor league pitchers right now and this explains why they called up Lail and not somebody else. nd they must hope that Lopez and Rodon will make it back after their DL time expires. Lail is a starting pitcher but not a very good one in his minor league career. He might get forced in for one or at most two starts and hope he can somehow get some batter out somehow.

Wouldn't be surprised if the Sox won't be making a trade for another starting pitcher before this season is over and for sure before next season starts.

Unless they want to trade Vaughn, which just makes no sense in a sixty game season, there's not much left they can give up. I'm not sure you're gonna get a great talent in return for Jonathan Stiever.

Agreed with Antartica -- if you want to do a trade, you have to give something up to get something. And just the whole atmosphere going on right now, I don't think there are going to be a lot of trades going on... the Sox right now are probably 60%+ likely to make the playoffs, so I think I would just go with what I have right now. And this of all seasons isn't the time to mortgage your future -- it will always have an asterisk on it. I kind of look at it like a more immersive practice period if that makes sense? You are travelling to other stadiums, it is kind of like playing a regular MLB game... this is something they can build upon and should be maybe the first year that they believe in themselves AND have stats/games to back them up.

With the current atmosphere, if they are willing to pick up salary, I believe a lot can be had without having to give up valuable players. Teams willing to take on contracts should be able to get better deals than norm the rest of this season/offseason.

I believe in the 3 we have. It's going to have to be good enough. I dont know why Dunning can't have a shot. If it's service time, that's insane. If it's being careful with the arm, that's fine. I think he's like 25. Time to go if he's 100%

They have McCann. I think that he is their significant chip. Without the minor leagues playing, it is pretty impossible to rate team prospects, right? But guys who are currently on the 40 person roster are viable in trade talks. The thing is, this season just isn't a big deal for a team as far as winning a championship. It will have an asterick on it. So I doubt that any team is going to make a huge move in order to win a 60 game championship. But I really do feel that McCann has a lot of value to this club .

Cant trade McCann. Collins blows and Mercedes is too much of a defensive liability.

Sure they can. A second catcher that rakes like Mercedes can could be more than adequate. Mercedes is nowhere as good as either Grandal or McCann but to get something very valuable, you sometimes need to trade something that is valuable also. Now, they may not do this as a requirement for this silly season but for 2021. We will see.

The damage done to the pitching by losing McCann probably cancels out the benefit of adding the type of pitcher McCann would fetch in a trade.

Don't think so. We are talking about a catcher who only starts 1 out of three games max. I think that McCann can get back at least a good 2-3 starting rotation pitcher. McCann is not a starting catcher for the Sox. He would be a starting catcher and a good one for about 90% of major league teams. Besides. I want to see Mercedes mash the ball.

I dont think McCann gets them Stroman, and that's really the guy you'd want.

I don't think Stroman is the guy they need. Plus I believe he got hurt once again.

Free Agent after the season. I don't like the situation any more than you do, but at this point you have to get what you can for him this year.

Yep. And that is my point. Like I said, I love McCann and was surprised by the Grandal trade when it happened. But they really need to take advantage of having McCann. Plus it is really unfair to have this guy only catch one out of three or four games. Its too bad the season is so short because of the limited time that they have to make a trade but they really need to set up this team for next year, not this one. If they win this year, that's just peachy but we are talking about a top level team going forward for a pretty long bit of time and obtaining a front line starter would go a long way to solidifying that future.

McCann is a 30 year old catcher with a career OBP below .300

No one is giving you anything of value for him.

You could get a quality player with an expiring contract as Anty said.
