The Sox are set up nicely to transition from Colome next year. He can return to his normal role of set up for a good team or sign somewhere else as a closer on a bad one. Either way, at least the Sox won't be held up for ransom for mediocrity

I think you are overrating him based on one good year. Lots of catchers have had one good/great offensive season and gone right back to average. If he does it again, that's different. Maybe he will. No guarantee of that though.

Good backup catchers get moved because of injuries in most cases, that is definitely possible but it wont be some great haul and it wont be Stroman or anything better than him.

I went around and around wtih Hawk on this before. He completely overvalues McCann. He is nothing more than a good back up catcher who had a nice half a season last year. There is a clear reason they spent so much money on Grandal. They knew it was not going to last and they needed an upgrade.
