There is a derecho line setting up in Iowa going through Des Moines right now and headed this way for the mid-to-late afternoon hours. Could be pretty brutal especially around Rush Hour. Definitely going to be some trees down and power outages in the area later on

Not much you can do in a MCS but wait it out and hope your roof doesn't fly off.

80-100mph wind gust have been seen in Iowa. Sustained winds of 50 miles an hour or more blowing for like 10 straight minutes have also been confirmed. Going to be a rough afternoon.

One of my Iowa Facebook friends posted pics with chunks of lumber that got blown through the side of a house.

If I wasn’t an idiot, I’d try to share a pic...

The people that post on that page on FB are easily some of the most insane people I've ever seen. It scares me that many of them live around me.

I just meant the scanners in general, but yeah that page is something special.

I’ve seen worse. Stood on the front porch for a but of it and contemplated life as I half expected the linden tree to snap in half. I actually think the storm that came through about a month ago had higher winds locally.

It’s a hoax, only knocking down power lines and trees with preexisting conditions.

Lot's of wires down/arcing in the Woodstock and Marengo Fire Protection Districts but not much else.

Half of a huge tree fell on my brother's house in LaSalle County.

It was an ugly picture but they are OK.
