Crazy coming home from Bolingbrook...tree branches everywhere, garbage cans in the middle of the street .

Good amount of rain and thunder now, but not much in the way of winds in Orland. I'd say it was really Gusty maybe around 50 miles an hour for about 2 minutes and it has calmed significantly sense.

Half the town on FB said it was uneventful and the other half is posting pictures of missing trees. Sounds hit or miss.

It looked like it curved north to Kenosha

I was out in front of my building at the exact moment the wind hit. Went from 0 to 60mph almost like a fan was turned on. Never experienced anything like that.

Lost some trees on farm and had some green snap and down corn in at least one field. I’ll look in a couple days to see how much of the wind blown corn bounces back. Most fields look relatively untouched. Bad stalled variety I guess.

Jennifer D'Onofrio abc7 this morning afraid to use the word "black" and ruffle feathers. Be very careful in the Wrigleyville and Lakeview neighborhoods. It is pitch (awkward pause) ..."dark" when driving through here...

According to Comed I may not have power until sometime next year. An elected official stays a few blocks away and SURPRISINGLY the power has been restored to that area.

Some People are being told Friday around here. We never lost power but makes the generator seem like a better idea again.

I've always wondered, how long do those things run full bore without having to gas them back up? And much fuel does it hold?

Since we have 500-2000 gallons of diesel in tanks on farm at all time we looked at those. Think they were 2-3 gallons per hour for what we looked at and could be set with a 100 gallon tank. Easier to do natural gas for most people.

Saturday at 3 is what I hear.

I just rode my bike through Rogers Park (the actual park) where I guess the tornado touched down. Holy shit! There are huge trees that were ripped right out of the ground. It looks apocalyptic. It's only a few blocks away from me. I feel pretty stupid for staying at the top of a 12 story building while this shit was happening. I had never seen a wind like that and it occurred to me to go downstairs but I never did and it blew through quickly. I rescued my wife's plant from blowing off the balcony. I knew it wasn't a good idea to stand out there so I grabbed it and came back in quickly.
