Yeah. I'd rather have Ed Lynch as the gm and have the team suck every year.

things change

WGN used to be the comfortable old slipper of chicago radio (really chicago region). You would laugh at its existence as a youth and then find it creeping on to your dial uncomfortably often as you aged

now, it really has no defining character. I don't think old coots listen to WGN as their friend late into the evenings anymore.

I think the thread is about good ol' channel 9 rather than 720, but your point stands.

Randy Michaels really wrecked the station by trying to turn it into talk radio for angry dads like his old WLW. Once they lost the Cubs in 2014 (it's been that long), it was all over for them. Now it's owned by a poor man's Sinclair that doesn't even want to be in the radio business and will try to operate it as cheaply as possible -- I think weekends are all reruns or Music For The Dying now and most of the news is prerecorded. Feder said they're looking at bringing in John Records Landecker to replace Roe Conn. I guess they got frustrated that Larry Lujack wasn't answering their calls.

as bad as 'GN is now, it never really was that good. I only ever listened to it for Cubs games. Other than that, it was bland.
