People keep tossing the memos. Can you blame them? We've had almost two generations of good times. At least the last time we had price controls, double digit inflation, 20% interest rates, there were unions.

I dont disagree with the right of workers to organise but unions are anti-competitive, and the USA is going to need to compete with the rest of the world on equal footing for the first time since 1916. The right to unionize is obviously guaranteed and not going anywhere, but if a union shop cant turn a profit then that's the end of that union shop.

Trump is going to exhaust the printing press. That much is clear, he's going to try to buy this election by pumping the S&P and printing checks to American households.

I'll be fucking forty when America is livable again. Sad!

Wednesday afternoon the family took a tall sail boat trip from NP and had dinner at Riva. We were the only people in the upstairs dining room from 4:30-6:30 and just as we left a table of 6 got seated. Staying at the Loews hotel where it’s 50% off a 2nd room and parking is discounted. Did the architectural boat tour today, had the full tea service at the Russian Tea Room, and then had dinner at Smith and Wolensky’s. It’s a great time to be doing stuff downtown.

It's world class in the same way a place like Frankfurt is world class. It may not be a center for leisure tourism but business tourists know it, love it and come here in droves. There are very few "Washington slept here" tourist stops in this city yet it has an incredibly healthy leisure tourist industry, so word must be out internationally that this is a nice place to come. Even now, you cannot walk downtown without hearing a tourist speaking a foreign language.

Domestically, look at Seattle and Portland. The news has been nothing but bad coming from there in the past six months. I doubt its tempered enthusiasm to travel there. Internationally, Paris has either labor or social unrest basically every few months.

Antarctica, you're a guy who flees home at the first hint of anything uncomfortable, so you have been around. You know that you can go nearly anywhere on this planet and people will recognize the place when you lie and say you are from Chicago.

I don't know what world class is. New York may be the only place in the country that fits the strictest of definitions. People travel here internationally and multi national corporations seem to like to set up shop here.

I actually don't spend a ton of time in Nashville, all of my family is in Murfreesboro. My son and I will go over and spend some time. To be honest, I liked Nashville a whole lot better 15 years ago. Much more Honky Tonkish than it is now with all of the Corporate Money involved.

Come on. Nave Pier is like Fanuel Hall in Boston. It's for tourists. It has a purpous.

The Bean is great and so is Buckingham Fountain. Legit nice things that are pleasant to walk around even as a resident.

It's art. What's so great about the Picassos or Flamingo? It looks nice and in a great setting any time of year. I like how it reflects the sky and is accessible 360 degrees. It makes me happy. I can't comment on the finer artistic points. I just like it.

Cloudscape is unique and provides some interesting and different views of the city. I get that it's not for everybody, but it is pretty cool to go see once in awhile.

Navy Pier is all right place to go to every couple of years as well. It's definitely a tourist trap, but walking along the pier offers some really great views. The ferris wheel also offers a unique perspective of the city.

And to KD's point, I would rather have a meal at Riva then go to PF Chang's or some other sort of chain.
