The Nancy Armour segment illustrates why Julie is wrong about (most) women in sports media. Armour offered nothing of value...zero inside information or research and zero entertainment, yet Rosenbloom and Julie continue to fawn all over her.

Rosenbloom: How do you see the NFL season happening with Covid?
Armour: It's problematic. We'll see what happens.

Repeat ad nauseum. It was pure filler.

Corny at times? Yes.

Is he the most talented sports talker? Of course not.

But I appreciate he seems to be a genuine dude.

I generally agree with this assessment. I consider him to be a net positive over others when he’s substituting on a show.

He's listenable. At a station where 90% of on-air talent isn't. No one I'd say is must listen radio though.

His lisp makes me want to drink. He can't carry the load hence he is no longer doing Cubs...he "got by" the last time I listened.

THIS

You can tell he doesn't have an agenda or trying to one up someone so he can get a regular gig on air. Maybe if he was he'd still be on the cubs beat instead of Hughs and kiss ass ZZ.

He seems pretty genuine and just happy to be working on radio in any capacity.

He doesn't even come close to touching any political or hot-button/shitlib issues with a 10-foot pole, either, which, to me, makes him a leader in his field.

Don't forget that Pat had some health problems as well, so they needed a plan in case Pat was unexpectedly out. But I do think that Pat didn't care for Grote.

His PBP is terrible. If that is the reason they made the move the decision maker need to be fired. If he was doing Loyola games instead of DePaul they would have let him go already.

I never knew billy was a member of the Zaidman ALS. That's a small club.

The Cubs could have had Wayne Randazzo, who has already moved up to second seat to the inimitable Howie Rose on Mets broadcasts by subbing for Howie and doing a good job with Josh Lewin. Josh decided to move to his wife's hometown of San Diego to be closer to her family, and Wayne got promoted.

Any serious thoughts?

I worked with him back in the day and he was a great guy. He's a big Star Wars/Star Trek guy, here's a clip of him talking with TDub back in 2002. You can skip to 3:18 if you want to go straight to Grote.
