Not really a cancellation, but at some point Jake from State Farm changed from white to black

So wouldn't that word only pop up as an autocorrect suggestion if you had used it/typed it before? I just tried typing nuggets incorrectly in my phone and the slur didn't pop up as a suggestion. Then i tried typing the slur into my phone and before I finished writing it the full word didn't pop up as a complete the word option, like "tyranny" pops up if I start writing "tyra".

Yeah I guess "thats a rough one" is pretty vague. I kinda meant what you said, that's a pretty hard "typo" to make, but even if he was David Duke it makes no sense to write that that way, so... idk. It's one of those situations where I want to give the benefit of the doubt to the dude but I also cant really even understand making that type of mistake in the sense that I literally don't know how it happens.

He used a dash to connect "Jazz" and what he ostensibly thought was "Nuggets" though, so autocorrect likely wouldn't have recognized what he was trying to type. You can try it yourself by connecting two random words via dash on your phone if you haven't typed the dashed phrase yet. For instance, my phone recognized "state-of-the-art" because I've typed it before, but it was no help for "game-state", and so the auto-replace feature didn't kick in.

So no, the theory that he fought through autocorrect (or taught his phone that word) isn't supported by what we observed, because we know dashes wreck the function.

Also, the letters needed to type That Word are adjacent or included in the letters you need to hit to type "Nuggets" on a QWERTY keyboard.

As I said, I can buy that. Not trying to crucify this dude but that's a brutal mistake to not notice.

Yeah I realize you can't have someone working for an NBA organization blast out a tweet saying that word, even by total accident, without repercussions. But knowing what we know about how autocrrect works on phones, it looks like this was just the worst kind of spelling mistake on a small keyboard. He should be "suspended" for awhile then brought back for next season, and the players and his co-workers should give him a ration of shit for it for all time.

What also shouldn't be lost in all of this is that the guy's name looks like what a phone autocorrects "fuck" to.

whats weird is when they remake the commercial they have the black dude check in with the white dude to make sure he's doing ok.... it's like wtf? just own it dude.

I think Old Jake wasn't an actor (or maybe he was an just not a good one) and didn't really fit in with what they wanted to do with the Jake From State Farm character moving forward. That first commercial with New Jake where Old Jake makes a cameo is like a passing of the torch.

Yeah there's no way he's deliberately doing that. Just sloppy at best. Obviously it's the exact wrong time to be making this mistake, not that there's a right time to do it. I can see a suspension for gross incompetence. It would have been just as bad if it was some other derogatory word. Simply can't happen in his role.
