as good as it is, to have the Cubs playing as well as they are, I can't help but think about what a waste 2019 was. They had a manager playing out his contract. With no intention of keeping him after 2019. They had a better bullpen and after Cole Hamels was acquired, a better starting rotation. Why they allowed Maddon to manage the 2019 team is a mystery. They had an underachieving team in 2017 and 2018, even if they did make the playoffs and it was time to make the move after 2018.
