It's hard to think of a single acquisition he's made since then that has been positive. (Nico Hoerner?) Most have been significantly negative.

In my view he has been a great success since then. He really helped us out with our rebuild.

THANKS CUBS!!!

Your Tweet can't be correct, and Theo can still be considered a failure over the last two or three seasons. These things are not mutually exclusive.

I can't argue that some of his moves have been questionable. I also think his philosophy of preferring to sign pitching talent rather than draft high and develop has led to the challenges that prevented them from winning a World Series. That said, do you really feel there was an obvious move or moves that he got so wrong that it prevented a championship?

- The decline and eventual loss of Zobrist was as significant of an impact as any bad move Theo made in the past four years.

- His organizational philosophy of not drafting high and developing pitchers has meant having to spend a lot of money on Darvish and Kimbrel. I feel he overshot with the trade for Quintana, but it also seems like Quintana has regressed a lot since coming here. Some of his moves for relievers were certainly questionable and probably where he has been the biggest failure.

- I don't know how you can blame Theo for how some of the Cubs hitters go through such significant slumps. Bryant would be a glaring example of this. At one point it looked like they had five potential MVP candidates with Rizzo, Bryant, Baez, Russell and Contreras. I don't know how you can blame Theo for these guys not being able to take it to the next level consistently.

theo is not fully to blame.

how did he know the fucking owner has no brains on how chicago politics works. the politicans fucked him over and Ricketts is in debt 500Milllion (according to Murph).

And this season Ricketts basically gave theo no money and the plan was to cut costs.

Theo has been pretty bad since 2016 but he hasnt had a ton to work with either. He can certainly build a winner but he isn't very good at tweaking and upgrading an already good team. Getting Hendricks and Arrieta were outstanding moves that didn't cost shit. He will always be burried over Eloy and Gleybar but those 2 guys were signed solely as trade chips and that is what they were used for.

Everything looks glaringly bad because his draft picks aside from the 1st rounders have not done shit. Hatch was the only pitcher that has ever looked good that he drafted and he shipped him off.

If Eloy was signed only to be a trade chip, then that's an even more glaring mistake as it caused Theo to hang onto Schwarber. Schwarber would have been the perfect trade chip, now you would not get a bag of balls for him.

I am not sure the pitching thing is a choice. Either he has no idea how to evaluate pitching or he can not use analytics like he can with hitters on them.

He's not been great but they've pretty much been in contention every year since 2016 so not too bad either.

Looking like picking Darvish over Jake will end up being correct. The Wade Davis deal was good at the time and directly led to an NLDS win.

Happ and Hoerner look pretty solid

But yea, not great overall

Theo joined the Cubs in October 2011. An article from the past February grading his first free agent David Dejesus through Kimbrel. Little too positive for Heyward. Should be an F.
