The rights cost a fortune to acquire. Once you acquire the rights you better believe the studio is going to release as many films as it takes to recoup the investment and then some. That's why there's all these bullshit Star Wars films after Disney acquired the franchise.

I'd be fine with a super super local Batman movie where the fate of a small town is at stake rather than the entire world or country. Super gritty and low key. What was so eye roll-inducing about the horrible third Nolan film was the cliched plot as represented by uncreative ticking time bomb scenario, which has only been done a billion times a year. Fucking trash.

Yeah TDKR was another example of a great half of a movie, and then the whole Gotham takeover kind of fell flat.

Plus Marion Cottilard’s dying speech was some of the worst acting I’ve ever seen.

I have high hopes for this new iteration of the IP tho.

Matt Reeves is a Batman fanboy, and apparently Pattinson is too.

When they had Ben Affleck play batman the last few years it just killed anything batman related for me.

too bad they could not have continued w/ the 3 batman films from the 2000s.

I agree about Affleck. Who do you guys think was the best Batman? Maybe Christian Bale for me. Well, after Adam West, of course.

Bale

Keaton was good at the time even though everyone was against it but he does not stand the test of time imo.

Bale
Keaton
West
Clooney
Kilmer

Haven't seen the Affleck Batman, so he's off until I have.

I mean, grimdark is done to death, but if any superhero movie’s going to get away with it, it’s Batman. Keaton’s still my favorite.

Yeah, there’s a lot of things to like about TDKR but the plot is not one of them. One of my peeves is the whole stock market scene and aftermath. There’s no way those bankrupting trades would’ve been allowed to stand considering everyone knew Bane caused them.

Affleck Batman is prolly my favorite Bruce Wayne version of the character.

Also, the warehouse scene in BvS is still the best Batman fight sequence on film.

Unfortunately, Affleck was going through some serious alcohol issues when he was Batman, and also the studio interference ruined his two attempts at cementing a cohesive legacy for his portrayal of the character.

All that being said, Bale is the best so far at truly diving into the ethos of Batman.

The only critique of Bale’s time as the character is the clunky fight choreography that Nolan used.

Too MANY times in the trilogy do we see a henchmen flailing around trying to pistol whip Batman when the bad guy could just shoot him point blank.

Still TDK is one of my favorite movies of all time, and raised the standard so high for comic book movies.

Affleck is a very underrated Batman.

No one involved with the 2000s Batman films wanted to do a third film. Let alone continue making Batman movies after that.

Agree that Bale was the best Batman and also agree with the few who think Affleck seems to be underrated. I tried to watch the ones with Kilmer and Clooney but couldn't make it more than 30 minutes into them.

Out of all the single character comic book movies, Batman has produced a consistently good product for the better part of 35 years...and I'll still watch.

If they continue to cast Englishmen doing an American accent as Batman, I demand they cast an American doing an English accent as Alfred. Way too many foreigners taking our American roles these days. MAGA!

Colin Farrell in a fat suit is going to be problematic when we look back at this movie 10 years from now. Why couldn't they hire a fat actor to play a fat character?

Andy Serkis is Alfred in this movie.

At some point in the 46th Batman movie they should do a twist and have his dad show up alive and as the Joker or something.

Sounds like a better option for when they decide to do a "The Office" style documentary comedy around Wayne Enterprises.
