I hate him. He sucks, he's boring and he annoys the hell out of me.

I watched 10 minutes of the no hitter, and wow he was bad.

"the music in his head"

Meanwhile, Stone basically told us what Giolito was thinking. Lucas more or less confirmed it in his interview.

This was Benetti's first big moment and he screwed up.

Get better for the next ones.

If the announcer is the biggest thing to complain about right now, that's not a bad thing.

I love Benetti. I liked Hawk but was tiring of his act the last couple of years.

I like him normally. Just got too talky tonight.

Benetti is fine but he just didn't know how to handle the big moment. Admittedly he has never had to call one before so that will get better with time as he'll have plenty to call this decade.

Hawk said virtually nothing during Wilson Alvarez's no hitter in 1991 and not much more in both of Buerhle's, if my memory is right

I think Humber's was on national tv?

I loved Hawk. I love Steve Stone too, but I can't recall a game where I enjoyed Benetti. Almost every game I watch he bothers me.

He thinks he's clever and funny. He's neither. And that's what's annoying. Unfortunately, I've become used to it. Might as well, he's going to be around until he can't be.

The radio guy is top notch.

Masur?

The couple times I've listened to him he's been boring and uninterested.

Benetti's garbage. Everybody plays it safe today. Caray or Prince wouldn't get hired today.

What specifically was Benetti doing?

He's always seemed decent to me.

Sounds about right. I've really grown to like him and the stone pony but I missed the history last night so maybe y'all are right, but I'll have to look for a replay today.

He just seemed really nervous and so he kept talking and talking about all kinds of random shit.

Like Ogie said, this is his first big moment. He'll get better.

Maybe he was babbling because there were no fans? With amped up crowd noise and fans on camera, perhaps he would have taken a breath and let some of the pictures do the talking.

I agree with this for the most part. Benetti thinks he's the smartest guy in the room, but as long as Stone is in that room, he's definitely not. However, I don't know if I would call either radio guy top notch. I suspect I like DJ more than most people because I've grown used to him and he doesn't take himself too seriously, Masur is just okay. I was listening last night and both of them did a good job of letting you know that the no hitter was taking place without explicitly referring to it or beating it into the ground.

Yeah I truly don’t get how someone can like Benetti as an announcer. He talks over every big moment and is incessantly annoying.

I don't listen to a whole lot of Benetti and Stone, but I agree that there's something about him that just grates (same with Stone but for other reasons). The most enjoyable Benetti broadcast for me was when he had Bill Walton on as his color guy.

I agree that it's much more pleasant watching a game when it doesn't feel as if the two guys calling the action might try to murder each other at any moment. Sox fans haven't had a good vibe in the booth since Hawk/Paciorek.

Way too much talking and most of it was just claptrap. It's okay to shut up sometimes. Hawk understood that.

He and Stone have become too silly in the booth, like they feel that this season is a joke so they have to become the attraction.
