Interesting question brought up by Carm & Jurko today- do you pursue a Lance Lynn and be willing to give up a Andrew Vaughn or Dane Dunning?

Hard pass on Vaughn. I would only consider giving up Dunning if Lynn was on a multi-year deal.

Not me. They need a lefty starter.

You didn't address my post, which is everyone wetting their pants over one hot week. They should win around 32 games. They have 14 games left with the awful Tigers, Royals, and Pirates.

It did. If it's a hot week you should predict them to struggle.

Tigers just took two of three from your Cubbies. So that makes the Cubs worse than awful.

no, you don't shorten the window to better your chances in this odd/random season where the first round is literally a best of 3 where just a little bit of bad luck ends your run and wastes your rental. We'll need Vaughn as I don't think Jose Abreu is a full time contributor past 2021 or 2022.

Vaughn has to be untouchable at this point. I would be willing to give up Madrigal, Dunning, and something else for a solid SP.

Yep, Vaughn plays 162 next year as EE was only supposed to be a 1 year bridge to get to get to him.

I don't see any chance that Vaughn starts the season at the MLB level next year. He has 200AB, none above A+.

I dont see Abreu falling off any time soon either. Jose Bautista had a .900+ OPS his age thirty-five season, if he can so too can Jose.

He was spanking Giolito in scrimmages. He has a good eye and barrels up mistakes.

All reports say his bat is MLB ready

Vaughn is not Zack Collins. You could probably plug him in at DH and he'd do fine. That's why EE's been put on notice.

It wasn't last year, and he hasn't had any game time that would have changed that.

It appears the Sox don't think so either as we tick down to 28 games left.

How is your Eloy O Meter thread working out?

He'll come back to earth, just like future hall of famer Luis Robert has

Luis Robert "coming back to earth" is an OPS of .867 and gold glove D in CF. Damn, if that's a rookie coming down to earth, I'll take 8 other players like that in the lineup.

His bat is ready. He was hitting well in spring, hitting well in exhibition here in Chicago, and is hitting well in Schaumburg. Only thing keeping him down right now is the fact we'd be wasting service time without having opportunities to give him consistent ABs because you're not sitting MVP Jose Abreu and Edwin is a veteran who finally started delivering with a .990 OPS over his last 7 games.

You didn't address my post, which is everyone wetting their pants over one hot week. They should win around 32 games. They have 14 games left with the awful Tigers, Royals, and Pirates.

21 wins so far.

Tell ya the truth, I'm happy with a split against KC next weekend. Those guys can pitch a little bit. And Detroit? Looks like we caught them at the right time. They're .500

I give them credit. The best bumslayers in baseball. 17 -2 against KC, Detroit and Pittsburgh. 9-13 against everyone else.

Your original point was that it was one hot week, and they should win around 32 games. You knew the schedule at that time and even mentioned it.

So was it more than just one hot week?

Honesty about what the Cubs really are is a good thing.

Hub said yesterday that The Cubs are a "bad team" just now.
Also said Pat Hughes and Ron are best in baseball.
Then said Jason Benetti is a future Superstar in the booth.

There was nothing else on which is why I heard this stuff.
