That will happen in December unless they win it all. The only person they won't try hard to trade is Heyward as he becomes a 10 and 5 guy at the end of this year.

If MLB sticks with a 16 team playoff with no meaningful benefits for a first place team, I expect that they will shed a lot of their position players and play for a 4 seed next year. The Brewers are toast, the Cardinals still have no hitting, and the Pirates are the Pirates.

I think the Marlins could pay for Rizzo to extend him and give up a young starter, he's a South Florida guy and he's the type of veteran they need as they get ready to make their run in a crazy weak NL East. And somebody in the AL or NL West will be willing to rent Bryant for a year.

Baez
Bryant
Darvish

I would think you could get a good rebuild going with trades of those guys

Theo is done after next year right? If he has another year left and they make the playoffs this year, the probably doesn't change much in his final year.

Who's replacing him? Jed Hoyer? Crane Kenny? will they be doing anything different than Theo?

30 games out of like 500+

Pretty sure they still have value.

Would you really trust Theo to be the one to blow it up?

After the Q trade I'd be really worried about how he judges talent.

Theo's trade history is pretty great overall but no, I'd want the new guy doing it.

Cubs pick up Cameron Maybin. I like this move because it pushes Almora to the far corner of the bench and probably a DFA. Almora's at bat with a runner on third this past weekend was absolutely inexcusable and showed no growth. Maybin fills the Steven Sousa Jr. role until Sousa is healthy.

Maybin's been on like a thousand teams already in the last few years.

Is his bat that much better than Almora's?

If we're counting on Sousa Jr. for anything this year we're in big trouble.

This is a cautionary tale to the White Sox not to fall too deeply in love with some guys. Moncada immediately leaps to mind.

Sousa was originally signed in a pre-DH 26 man roster world to give days off to Schwarber and Heyward against lefties.

Maybin is a better hitting version of Almora with more experience. Missing since Jon Jay left.

A lot of this team's struggle was based in not wanting to give up any of their #1 draft picks down the stretch in 2017.

One difference with the Sox is we did lock almost everyone up to super team-friendly deals so we dont have to worry about control problem tanking their value.

Choosing to trade Eloy for Quintana instead of Schwarber for Verlander was a blunder.

Of course not the same type of blunder that was trading Fernando Tatis Jr. for James Shields.

Sox were asking for Schwarber for Q first. Fucking Theo was the one who countered with Eloy and Cease.

Batting average league wide is down to late 60s values. No point trying to hit flare singles and doubles when the ball is juiced, the fences are closer, and you face more bad middle relievers and #5/#6 starters with less control.

You want to increase BA, move home plate back 7 or 8 feet in all stadiums.

That's just it....they don't want to increase BA. Chicks dig the long ball.
