It seems like everything today is becoming more expensive and lower/mediocre quality from what it was in the past.

Housing. Look at some of these 900 sqft houses they are selling for 150k + with the houses gutted in the inside. Fed artificially low interest rates are making it harder for people to buy starter homes.

Air Travel. It was never good but now???? I hate going on a plane.

On the good side of this though is the market for mobile homes and camper trailers. With the low interest rates, you can buy good units at a very affordable price and payment requirement. My daughter and son-in-law talked about doing this next year. Another thing that some people I know are doing is buying a boat and living on the boat as a second home. Again, the interest rates are as good as they will ever be and with the pandemic hitting there are quite a few properties that are coming onto the market that people can afford.

Yeah. You're right. I just absolutely hate getting on plane nowadays(of course, before the Fing China virus hit anyway). Everything about plane travel sucks from getting to the air port, from them losing your bags, cramped seats, dirty smelly people, crabby flight personnel, EVERYTHING!!!

i haven't had to fly during Covid, but generally my flying experiences in the last couple years haven't seemed that bad in terms of service or hassle or price. The problem i have is the reduction in pitch between seats. Economy class is what it is so I know getting on the plane legroom is going to be an issue and I know I can pay my way out of it into a higher class seat if i wanted to, but its just the concept of an airline purposely making it that uncomfortable that rubs me the wrong way. Yes, I am much taller than average but I have been on enough flights with average height people to know the problem isn't limited to only the extremely tall. Id actually have that problem instead of being extra wide trying to wedge into one of those narrow seats though.

It wasn't really the airlines. It was consumers who were choosing airlines who made the seats smaller and smaller to fit more people and charged $10 less for the ticket and the American public ate it up as a good thing to get a cheap fare while also complaining about how the mean airlines are making things more terrible. The fact that airlines exist today that charge you to bring carry on luggage and charge you for a cup of water is not only a sign that American consumers are idiots but also that the free market is sometimes a major negative if a certain amount of people are so dead set on saving a few dollars they are willing to accept the absolute worst service imaginable and then force other businesses to have to follow suit because they must compete with it.

I wonder how the pandemic will change the airlines. I think business travel is dead now since companies have been forced to adopt Zoom. COVID scare is also going to prevent many people from getting on a plane. Might have to go back to offering perks since the mass travel model looks dead for awhile.

I've done fifteen and sixteen-and-a-half hour flights in economy, non-stop. One of the flights was connecting from Madras and I was one of like four white people on a 777, I was fine. It was fine. You are getting such a good deal flying around the USA for $90 and all you've got to do is suffer through a cramped seat, and you have the nerve to think its worse?? Lmao.
