Ending was underwhelming. they wasted the first 45 min of the episode with nothing. the 'Grease' sing a long in the car was really stupid. I guess it was used at the end to surprise us but could have been done better.

The last 15 min was ok.

Lovecraft Country has nothing to do with Lovecraft. Interesting. The show was made to point out that a beloved author who has been dead for 80 years is problematic and racist. It’s the nonstop drumbeat to rewrite the past and become obsessed with the ugly parts.

How did two high profile HBO shows with origins in comic books and horror stories become a chance to rehash a riot in Tulsa in 1921?

Art is supposed to transcend race. Now race dictates the story, the politics and the cast.

When you read a great book is your first thought what is the race of the person who wrote it? Are they allowed to have these ideas? Because that's were we are now because of self-loathing idiots. I don't need a show to serve as a fuck you to a long dead author. Sure we will use your popular ideas, but you weren't wok in the 1930s. So we will cast only black actors, and make it all about Jim Crow and race riots.

I don’t present coherent ideas to refute opinions like yours because there is no way to refute claims like yours when you think you’re the arbiter of what art should be or what ideas artists are allowed to have. How could I possibly engage with someone who thinks those things?

You are avoiding the discussion. Lovecraft but with black people isn’t much of an idea. Why should the race of writers and creators be the most important part of a show? Should you only get to tell the story of your race in fiction?
