It was a mess yesterday.

Turn down the fake crowd noise. An NFL game isn't constant noise that drowns out the announcers so its not like it reflects reality. Baseball has done a great job of having a nice, ambient murmur allowing the analysts to lead. The college football I watched also seemed good. Fox has been bad since the beginning of their getting sports coverage in overdoing the fake noise. They seem to have jumped in with both feet now that they have a reason to do it.

The game clock takes no primacy in what people are watching. Why is it smack dab in the middle of the screen taking up space. However, if you are going to elevate its necessity, could you at least make sure it is accurate? They were out of synch with the actual clock far too often yesterday.

Additionally, their stats were incorrect and poorly synched most of the day as well.

Also didn't help that the ref mic was broken most of the day and the announcers didn't compensate but overemphasizing the penalty calls.

It was poorly produced from beginning to end. They seem unprepared except for the crowd noise, which was a detriment to the enjoyment of the game.

It seemed as if they blew several touchdown calls as well.

I've hated the Fox production, particularly their sound, for years since I noticed they started importing almost cartoonish football sound FX into their highlight recaps (fake thuds when a receiver makes a big catch, fake crowd erupting in cheers when someone scores, etc.). But yes, the production yesterday was well below par, I even noticed a few times they had graphics pop up with placeholder numbers like "-999".

The number of time outs were moved to the right, instead of the bottom. I thought DET had no time outs, when they actually had two.

I kept noticing in the first half Vilma would say, "what a great throw by (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky" then they would zoom to the replay which would be a ball that wobbled like a duck and was 2-3 feet off the mark.

So they were showing his good throws?

CBS had a rough day too. It sounded like they had a guy running a soundboard the way the boos would come up when a call went against the home team. In the Carolina game after a 4 yard run by McCaffrey all the sudden the crowd erupted and Gannon asked if he missed a 30 yard TD run and commented on the crowd noise not being in sync with what was going on.

The game clock being in blinking yellow numbers was distracting. The new graphics are not a plus.

relax. they didnt have a pre-season either. this stuff usually gets worked out during weeks 1 and 2 of the pre-season.

it would be great if they offered an unfiltered version of the broadcast with no fake noise and whatever the parabolic picked up was what we heard. but the children i know.

As said by others, Fox has been working with fake crowd noise for a long time. The levels were distracting. That doesn't even address that in a game where fans attend Bears at Lions, more than half the crowd would be Bears fans making plenty of noise for the away team

The bigger problem with the crowd noise was that it didn’t match up with what was happening on the field. There would be like a five second delay between what would normally cause fans to cheer from when happened on the field until the sound of them cheering came on. Even then it would sometimes be completely out of proportion with how loud you would expect the crowd to cheer for whatever happened.

I was listening to the Fox audio feed in the van while delivering yesterday. The combination of no crowd noise and Dick Stockton doing play by plan was wild.
