Better for him to figure it out now while everyone else is getting the job done. Then he'll be ready when we really need him to deliver.

I think Raw Deal has used him exactly the right way. He's showing really well and seems very fresh.

Credit is due to Ricky. After a slow start, he's pushing the right buttons.

Yeah, hopefully he'll focus on his sterling defense to get him past his struggles.

I know what you mean. He looked sad during his last at bat.

I still don't think Ricky has any idea how to make a lineup (I would have Madrigal batting #2 after Andy), but there are so many options that you really can't go wrong.

They need to get Dyson some ABs to see what he can do, though.

We are dominating this game, but I don't like how it seems like we have allowed at least one baserunner in pretty much every inning. That's pretty lame and to me it is like playing with fire.

We said going in that 2-2 gets the job done but 3-1 puts them away. With Giolito/Keuchel going next, no reason we can't go 4-0 this series

This lineup is ridiculous. 5 guys slugging over .500. Anderson hitting .377. Even Engel is .306. Team is on a 22-5 run.

We're the BIG RED MACHINE.

It will be hilarious if we get the Yankees in the 1st round and don't see Hamels because you'd have to have a death wish to throw a lefty starter in front of this team.

Right now it's the Indians, which I'm totally uncomfortable with.

Indians have no bats and are falling apart. They have no confidence in any part of their game.

Rather have the Yankmees or the Jays for a 1st rounder. But whatever, still have 12 games to go and we could still end up with a #3 seed.

Lets finish with the #1 record in baseball and be in the driver's seat the whole way through.

You have to feel pretty good about the Sox chances to take at least one of the next two games with Giolito going tonight, and hopefully Keuchel on Thursday. Whats nice is that they won on Monday without a homer, and already had a two run lead (which would have been enough) yesterday before they hit two solo jacks.

McCann should catch two out of every three games. EE should see only limited at bats as a DH, and should bat 7th.

I'm sure first game of the playoffs though, Ricky will have Grandal behind the plate and EE as the DH hitting 5th,

They have Bieber and Plesac in a best of 3 series...that's terrifying.

It's so obvious McCann should be catching Dunning, Cease, and Giolito. EE can get in there twice every 5 games. Can't be fucking around anymore. This is a WS contender with Dunning coming through.

Going back and reading this thread, Re: Eloy in the 9th inning of Monday's game, I don't think that was Ricky's biggest blunder of the night. His biggest mistake, by far, was starting the 8th inning with old man Gio Gonzalez. You cannot put Gio in a situation where he "must" face three batters late in the game like that. Doesn't matter if there are three lefties coming up, Gio is just not a guy who should be in high leverage situations like that to a team as good as the Twins, period. Now it worked out in the end, but Ricky played Russian Roulette and had pulled the trigger five times and just got lucky.

It's possible they won't be lined up. Anyways, it's a convo better suited in a week from now.

Agreed. Got lucky. The two first hitters shook their heads walking off the field.

3 seed is honestly the best spot to get in the AL as it pretty much means you get a weakass Astro's team. The 7 and 8 seeds will probably have better records than the 6 seed.

I was disappointed to find out they weren't strictly going by record. I thought we had Houston. I was hoping the Cubs would do a number on the the Indians but that was the WRONG idea.

Gio's new nickname should be "Walk Machine".

The top team in each league gets to pick their opponent. No way do I want the Yankees and Cole in a three game series. Wouldn't be thrilled with the Indians and Bieber either, but with their lack of offense I'd prefer them to the Yankees.

Dunning hadn't beaten a quality opponent until yesterday. I like our chances.

How many "big" games has Giolito had the chance to start, one?
