hes got a whopping $25mm option (needed 200 innings 2020 or 400 2019 and 2020).
I'd love for Lester to spend 2021 with the cubs, but 25mm is far too expensive, and way more that he gets on the market.

Cubs will decline the option. But would you object to an offer of 12.5 or 15 per for two more years? He is 36 now but I could see him being a very good 4th 5th next couple years.

If they win the division they bring all these guys back. Theo is loyal to a fault and he will be loyal to Lester I think.

No on Lester.. He's a 5th starter at best. I want this team to make major changes.

One year deal as a fourth/fifth starter. I can not see him getting a big one year or multi year deal at this point.

A series of $10-12M one year deals loaded with incentives. That'd be smart money.

Bryant won't get a big deal, he'll be pushing 30 as a FA and he's soft as shit.

He lives in Georgia, I could see him sign a 1 year deal for 12 million with Atlanta..one more shot at a ring.

Gone unless he wants a massive pay cut.

We should only be sentimental about keeping Contreras, Baez, and maybe Happ.

Everyone else, and I mean everyone in the organization should be made available this offseason.

The north side team could turn into a dumpster fire reminiscent of MANY of our youths if drastic changes are not made.

Sentimentality fucked us.

How much as a 5th starter? You'd pay 12.5?

You play until July and see where things are. Especially if they stay with 8 teams making it.

I’d rather start spring training developing chemistry, but deadline deals are another option.

Didn’t Theo push Manny and Pedro out of Boston when he thought they were past their sell-by dates?

I would guess the market would be somewhere around 1 year 10 with a bunch of incentives that could push it over 15.

Someone will still pay him big. He's still considered a big star outside of the cub fans here.

With Lester, Quintana and Chatwood all coming off the books, Bauer is the guy to target, not some guy lucky it was just a 60 game season, so we can't watch him wear down again in the 2nd half. Time to move on.

If you manage to get Bauer, which is realistic as he doesn't mind short deals and wants to go to a Driveline-focused organization, then bringing Lester back on 1/7 as a bridge to Marquez is ok. That lets them put Azolay in the swing man role for a season.
