That sucks.
The Mccormick mansion is haunted you know. I had an experience there once.

Haven't been there in 20 years. I'm glad that they gave a heads up, I'll probably get there once or twice more.

love that place

Why do I get the sense this is one of those going out of business announcements that will be pulled in three months due to the demand they received by fans.

If it were up to me, I think I'd rather go there than a steak place. Great food, beautiful setting. The waitress uniforms do give off a bit of a plantation vibe but at the same time they are kind of a turn on.

They said they would stay if they got a better deal. It seems more like a negotiation tactic.

In the announcement I read, they mentioned "still being open to maintaining a presence in Chicago".

They'll just open a "think tank" location.

Problem solved.

You like prime rib, spanky?

Young Furious was thoroughly traumatized by the bloody sight of it at Rockford's Hoffman House. To this day, I still find it absolutely disgusting, like a wadded up placenta.

They used to have a sandwich bar at lunch time that was the best deal in the city. You had to sit in the bar area, which is actually incredibly luxurious. You would get a prime rib sandwich with a salad bar and house made chips for under $10. Fantastic.

You just haven't had placenta prepared properly.

Right. It is extremely possible to have delicious prime rib without it swimming in blood.

Prime rib always seems like a great idea initially, but always seems too mushy. Now, take a fat beautiful slab of rare prime rib and sear it on both sides...now you're talking.

Prime rib doesn't do a damn thing for me. I'd rather just have a steak.

Out west there was a restaurant that would cut a slab of prime rib, drag it through some Cajun type seasonings and then blacken it. Very nice.

If I ever saw one, I'd be tempted to stop for that. It's been 34 years.

Smoked Prime Rib is fantastic. It's such a porous meat that it absorbs the smoke flavor throughout the cut. A nice crust on the outside with a bit of horseradish on the side...hard to beat.

I used to love it. It's ok now, haven't had it in long time.

I once had the "all you can eat" Prime Rib at the Hoffman house....Took them for at LEAST $200 worth of the rib. Skipped the giant salad bar and the sides.

Best prime rib I ever had was at the old "Strand" in downtown Lemont, many years ago. They did a blackened PR that was really good.
