If Hawk were calling this game he would have made it out like HErnandez was trying to fuck the Sox. That's not true. He's just terrible. But his ambiguous plate obvioulsy hurt the Sox more in this particular game than it did Cleveland. You take a guy like Foster who isn't at his best and was struggling with control and he throws what's obviously strike one only to have this shithead call it a ball.

Not really. It doesn't work out that way practically. Last night his bad calls and floating strike zone affected the Sox far more than it did the Indians.

I question the validity of that pitch zone. Look at the pitch at the 0:12 to 0:13 mark. Doesn't the zone graphic seem low? That pitch looks likes a strike to me.

Yeah I've often wondered if those zones on TV broadcast are somehow hooked into the actual PitchFX (or whatever it's called now) system, or whether it's just a software overlay done in the truck. I'm guessing it's the latter, because I don't recall ever seeing an adjustment on the drawn strike zone to account for the off-center camera.

I think it's all drawn based on input from that one camera, kind of like how on golf broadcasts some on-course shots are only "tracked" with the blue line following the arc of the ball with no ball or club data. That's gotta be just a "dumb" program following the movement of the ball through its view, with no actual calculations or predictions being done.

So 7-7 against the rest of what is considered the worst division in baseball.

I don't think that's true anymore. Cincy and Mil have been considerably better. Only team under .500 right now is Pit.

This season has proven to be a total crapshoot.
The Sox exceeded my expectations for this year. I'm more concerned about the 2021 season.

Back to the original topic...Angel Hernandez incompetence is no secret. He's terrible...worse than Joe West and that's really hard to top.
