He looks like Andrew Miller at his peak.

His change up is an exceptional 1990s fastball. Thats fucked up.

Can't we get more than an inning out of him?

Miller was a slider guy at his peak.

I know cross-racial comps are typically verboten in sports but I still say Chapman. The fastball just seems different, even if other guys are hitting the same mph.

I revisited the draft scouting report. They had him topping at 97. Concerns about injury as he has had a history of the shoulder.

Plan is still to make him a starter long term. That's what they drafted him for.

In a situation where he is a starter he probably throws 97. When he's going out there for just 15 pitches, you can put a bit more into it without concerning yourself with fatigue.

99-102 is quite a ways away from 94-97. Especially when you are a 6'6" lefty. Way too early, but it's possible we won the lottery with an 11th pick.

I asked a friend of mine who works as a scout how Crochet slipped to 11th and here is the answer I got. Apparently Crochet only really started heavily working on the slider and change over the last 12 months and the Covid shortened season didn't give him much of a chance to showcase it. Had he had a full college season, this kid goes top 5. Sox won the lottery.

He looked good. A bit wild early, but guys were just guessing on his pitches and missing.

Any word on what the injury is?

This 3 pitch sequence is just unfair

Yeah, I saw that. Insanely filthy.

"Oh, goodness gracious"

I need advice on how to not let Benetti bug me. We're really good and I can't have his dorkiness and corniness fuck with my vibe.

His motion is a little more compact and he is threw every pitch in that sequence over the top.

A lot less stress on that elbow going forward if he can continue to throw that way.

If you figure it out, let me know. As far as I am concerned, he is unlistenable.

Arm swing is shorter. Less intimidating to a lefty but who cares. His stuff is electric.

Jason is a geeky fanboy. Its annoying at times, but the guy grew up a Sox fan. If nothing else at least it's genuine with him.

It's the jokes and the downtime quips and banter mostly. I can deal with the over dramatization.

Jason is a very good broadcaster. To truly appreciate him, I'd suggest listening to him do basketball work with Robbie Hummel.

He's a different guy when he calls games for a national audience. He dials down the smugness, stops constantly trying to demonstrate his intelligence, and just calls the game.
