seriously, 2015 was 5 years ago, the year he hit the hr on the scoreboard.

He's a mediocre player and hiz lasy play in LF last night was disgusting. I was glad Ross pulled a Bobby Cox and benched his butt

This guy had so much trade value in 2016 now you would get crap for him

The number 1 rules is, never fall in love with your players and Theo screwed that up

Good thought. You hang out in Wrigleyville a lot? What's your opinion of the Wild Hare?

I'm just here to remind you that Detroit was willing to trade Verlander for Schwarber in 2017 but Theo declined and instead opted to send Cease/Eloy to the Sox for Quintana.

THANKS CUBS!!!

Do you think Q signs w/ the White Sox next year? I could see him going back since he seemed so comfortable there. And he would be a good #5 as the WSox need another starter.

But the WSox are a different team now - i dont think they'd accept his ho hum attitude.

I don't want Quintana. We have better talent coming up through our system that that .500 bum. I didn't even like him his 1st stint with the Sox.

I want fucking winners and Quintana is not a winner.

Giolito/Keuchel/Dunning/Kopech/Cease

That's a rotation Quintana can't even crack next year.

you summed up Q perfectly. WSox and Cubs versions. Theo got taken badly by Hahn. Hahn would have probably been happy trading a bag of potato's for Q.

Q kept the Sox in games. I defended him often. But I certainly don't want him back. WAY too much mileage.

Schwarber's biggest problem is he's immature. He's still young enough to have a Kornerko-like revival.

They could have gave him 70 million based off of one good year. Thankfully they did not.

Theo will never DFA Schwarber. If he isn’t trading him for Verlander in 17 he isn’t dfa him now.

He compares w Vogelbach who’s on his third team this season. Vogelbach did not have a Theo in Seattle to coddle him.

Theo will double down on "Babe" by giving him a stupidly large contract before he resigns from the Cubs

He's matured in the last 2 years but no way he's even close to Konerko. Konerko grew up when he got traded by the Dodgers. He was full of himself w/ the dodgers as they touted him as the second coming and it was too hard to live up to those standards.

It humbled him and the WSox were a fresh new start where there were no expectations to be a superstar so that helped him mature and refine his game.

If Schwarber has half the career of Konerko I'd take that.

The complete collapse of the Cubs offense under "Director of Hitting" Justin Stone might give Schwarber a reprieve. Theo will point to Babe, Baez, Bryant, and Rizzo all having utterly disastrous seasons, and make Stone the fall guy. It's uncanny how all of them have fallen off a cliff.

If it was just one year I'd agree but when they're offense goes kaput the last 3 seasons now down the stretch then it has to go to the top if you want to blame someone.

But they'll win the division this year so Theo will say everything is good.

it's probably time to stop evaluating this in terms of talent and start evaluating in terms of production.

At this point I no longer envision Schwarber as part of the core going forward. Too bad they didn't sign Castallanos and trade Schwarber for a good pitching prospect.

No one was trading anything worth a shit for Schwarber the past three seasons for sure.

correct. should have flipped him after the WS ended in 2016 and before the 2017 season started.

I agree the Cubs would probably get no more than a midling prospect at this point. But I believe you could get some value. He still has well above average power and has made himself into a decent left fielder. I believe the ability is there, but for whatever reason, he is not tapping the potential he has. Last season, when he made a great effort to take pitches on the outer half to left field, he had success. This year, that doesn't seem to be a focus.

You may have been able to post 2017 and/or 2018 if the great Theo had decided to trade for Verlander instead of Quintana.

he looked totally defeated today.

at least ross is there to ride his ass and not just excuse him like Maddon did. But Maddon did that because he knew schwarber was Theo's guy. So he had to lay off.

Look, I was very much for the Verlander acquisition, but I'm not sure he wasn't a day away from Tommy John a few years back. I think the Astros bet correctly but it could easily have been different.
