One hit in 3 2/3 innings is pretty good to me. Was it bad?

He has to get out of his own way. He definitely has the talent.

Yup. You don't have to break every bat and strike everybody out.

Was the same also said about Giolitto? There were many on this board that wanted to get rid of him also a couple of years ago. It is really really amazing the lack of patience some of you guys have with young pitchers, especially those who have suffered arm and shoulder injuries. Look at Burdi. Look at Cease. Then you have Dunning. They've all had injuries and appear to be healthy now. But Rodon and Lopez some want to call "busts".

One of few good thing about the current "season" is that the Sox are getting a real look at their young pitchers in the system and over-all it is really gratifying to see. I've said a few times that one of the keys going forward with this pitching staff is Rodon in my mind. I think he can still be a 3-4 starter but at worse, if healthy, he can be a shut down lefty in the pen. If he remains unhealthy, then they will have to go out in the off season and make a trade for a left handed starter. And by starter, I mean a legit 1 or 2 starter. And this stable of young pitchers can be used as trade bait to get one.

Lopez has great stuff. Whether he learns technique to control it is up in the air right now. Just like 95% of young pitchers.

There's certain pitchers who put too much on themselves. He's one of them. When you're getting in a jam, it takes all 9 guys to get out of it. Get AHEAD. If they hit it, they hit it.

And most of those pitchers are YOUNG. This guy breaks a lot of bats which means that he throws balls that bite a lot. I like that Rickey left him in there to face that dim witted Cub catcher before he pulled him after he got the idiot out. That guy is a real hot dog.

He's been at this for a while. Same as Giolito. It's put up or shut up time.

Do you say the same thing with Dunning? How about Burdi?

Dunning has 1 MLB game under his belt. Lopez has 80 starts

Maybe there was a reason for that? They are about the same age. Both have been injury prone. So what's the difference? I'd say that for both Lopez and Dunning, it is put up or shut up time as far as being a starting pitcher for the White Sox next year. Maybe one of them or both could hang on like Fuller did for awhile but eventually, number one draft picks have to produce or even they do not make it.

If today is Lopez's final start in a White Sox uniform, I would not be the least bit upset.

Here’s a thought. Throw a strike to the AAA hitters

Make him throw all 9 first so the pen doesn’t have to clean up his mess before the playoffs.

And never mind...

Carlos in Gio’s rightful role.

In the Chisox Commedia, Lopez definitely would be in heck, along with Brian Anderson, Dioner Navarro, Nick Swisher, Mark Teahan, Bill Nahorodny, The Dybber, and Ricky Renteria.
