It's great way to see live music during the days of Covid. The sound quality was good, drink prices reasonable, no issues with crowding and exiting the venue was remarkably fast. Fantastic views of the Chicago skyline were an added bonus (it's adjacent to the Adler Planetarium). I was skeptical going in but I left a big fan.

Yeah, you strike me as a connoisseur of fine music.

Easily frightening and even more easily manipulated.

yea i won't reduce myself to something like this

livestreams either...i've 'bought' a few for like 10$ but i view it more as a donation to the band as opposed to actually getting something of value

To each his own but if you want live music and there is a band you'd like to see I'd recommend it. There were some compromises but it wasn't nearly as confining as it sounds. They weren't strictly enforcing boundaries - you just needed to stay near your car. Most of the crowd was much younger than me and they were dancing throughout. The back of pick-up trucks provided a perfect dance floor. I suspect that the vast majority of attendees were happy they went.

Cmon Baygs. Most of these concert venues are still open, just operating differently.

I guess it just seems depressing to me. And that the effort would be more than it's worth. If i was in the area and a friend wanted to go i'm sure i would, i just wouldn't seek it out or make a concerted effort

I wasn't sure what to expect and it was definitely different but I wouldn't describe it as depressing. The extra elbow room was great and the spacing of the vehicles provided good site lines and allowed you to walk right up to the front of the stage for a closer look or picture without any bother (you could only stand there for a few minutes though).

I guess for me it would depend on the artist too- like a singer-songwriter type act i think would work better. I can't see watching a hard rock or punk band or something with a lot of energy doing as well

I'm going to see Hannibal Burress there on Sunday.

Free ticket so why the hell not.

I think live comedy needs crowd interaction so this may bomb.

I wish it was a weekend night so I could drink about 7 quarts of beer in my car almost alone

It was just as I suspected, live comedy really needs that crowd interaction. I don't think it even plays as well in big venues but it definitely does not work in outdoor spots with a dispersed crowd. It doesn't help that Hannibal just basically put together a bunch of friends with random acts who needed the money during COVID. WTF is Carshmellow and how does he get 20 minutes of stage time? Burress is funny. I like his slow paced, kind of stoner style. I think he did a 20 minute set out of 1.5 hours of show.

I did like being able to treat it like a tailgate and it probably works very well for music shows.

who did u see and how much were the tickets? Mt. Joy. My 16 yo daughter is a fan. I went in only knowing 1 song but I would say they were much better than I expected. The cost was $300 per car for a center spot and $250 for the sides - 4 people per car.

Was it sold out? yes
Was this at Northerly Island? No, it was in a parking lot just west of the Adler. Same area though.
