The Bears are talking like he has an ACL tear and will miss the season. There's a big difference in believing something and knowing something to be true.

Why make the declaration if they don't know for sure? Is it a complete tear or a partial tear? For a partial tear he might be able to come back still this season.

because a competent doctor has a pretty good idea of the injury

just needs swelling to go down in order to get an accurate MRI for confirmation

its like a second opinion

What competent doctor would say he has an ACL tear without seeing the result of the MRI first? That's bad doctoring.

Let's hope that he's not done instead of going with the doom prediction.

You realize a decent high school football trainer can diagnose a acl tear?

A NFL team doctor definitely can tell. The MRI is just to make it official

I wonder if Robinson looked at that injury and thought that it may be time to take the security.

Also, what is going on with his mullet style haircut

Yeah....as someone has had his ACL shredded and rebuilt...it's pretty obvious. Trust me, you tear your ACL...you're not playing football or doing any kind of physical activity. It's kind of important.

You can't be serious about the high school football trainer. For him, it's just conjecture. What he sees is a swollen knee and limited mobility, which could also occur from a twisted knee and/or sprain. That doesn't make it a tear.

The NFL team doctor could be wrong. That's why there's second opinions. To accept the opinion of any doctor without the MRI is folly.

I hurt my right knee badly four months ago and could hardly walk on it for weeks. But it wasn't torn.

ACL tear is easily diagnosed right on the sidelines or the locker room.

I tore mine skiing in Colorado and the orthopedic surgeon did 3 quick manual tests in like 2 minutes and told me it was an ACL/MCL/Miniscus tear (the unhappy triad, as he called it.) MRI confirmed his diagnosis was absolutely correct.

Rube is nuts.

There is one very simple test that they do where they put your knee at 90 degrees and try to pull your lower leg away from your femur. If it doesn't budge you are probably good. If it opens like a drawer it is a clear ACL tear. An athletic training student working a HS football game could absolutely do that test and be certain the ACL is gone.

I have torn mine and the doc, who interestingly has 3 of his kids playing in the NFL now, was able to tell me within 30 seconds of doing that test that mine was torn. The MRI showed extent of the damage to the rest of my knee and where the fragments of my old ACL were residing.

I have seen probably around 10 ACL tears over the last 17 years coaching. I can only think one instance where the trainer was wrong. There is a simple feel test for it.

If a doctor looked into one of Rube's ears, he would see clear through straight to the other side.

The doctor that rebuilt my ACL did a very quick check (bend test) of my other knee while I was recovering from the surgery. Told my wife in the waiting room "I assume he'll be back at some point in the future for the right knee...I'm going to guess he has problems with that one, too?"

They know a compromised ACL very easily. If it's torn, it's only going to take a few more hits or a bad turn until it's completely shredded. He will be of no use playing on a partially torn ACL.

His doctor told him the acl is connected to the prostate

rube mult trying to end the emerging fantasy football space of injury diagnosis by video.... don't follow dr. chao's account rube mult because he gets it right 95% of the time by video only.

Rube's primary critique of "Saving Private Ryan" was that Tom Hank's platoon did not verify that a decapitated soldier was actually dead before taking his helmet and armor for their own use.

During Rubes last prostate exam, both of the doctor's hands were on his shoulders

Posters with ACL injury/reconstruction experience, HS teachers/coaches with on-field/sideline first-hand experience, but the president of the Dan Fouts Fan Club knows best.
