Leyla is not ready to be in the lineup. Keep giving her a shift here and there and maybe she'll develop, but now's not her time. It's a little outside the box, but I predict they'll do this:

9 - 11: Matt Spiegel
11 - 12: Holmes and Spiegel
12 - 2: Laurence Holmes
2 - 6: Parkins and Bernstein

Leyla is trying to get this. But I've heard her tell this story. She's been bouncing around from city to city for years doing TV shit. Ya know, for team broadcasts. She'll probably land some where else doing that thing. This is just a "mean time" thing for her.

Spiegel's talent is that he makes other people better, to have him go solo would waste that talent.

That's a good point. My thinking is that Mitch Rosen never wanted to move Bernstein from afternoons and also didn't want to take Spiegel out of the lineup (those seemed to be de Castro decisions), so I'm guessing he'll want to find a way to "fix" both moves.

Leila knows she's being used in this phony tryout. She's knows she's being used as the SCORE's apology for Mac. She knows she doesn't have a shot. Leila doesn't care. Leila is happy to make a few bucks while she’s trying to get out of her condo lease and get the hell out of Chicago for the next TV gig. That's what's going on with her.

And Mitch and the score are happy to pretend they care about women. Same way they pretended after Bernstein’s boob thing. When they thought it was good to hire Julie for optics. Oy vey, did that backfire on them.

Anyway, this works out for everybody in the end.

I would definitely enjoy Parkins and Bernstein but I don’t think it would be a big hit with the 50 and 60 year-old listeners. Plus, all the right wingers would complain about their politics. Parkins/Spiegel in the afternoons and Bernstein and friends (Rahimi, Herron, and others) in the morning.

Pairing Parkins with Bernstein runs the risk of the two exacerbating the qualities of the other that listeners dislike the most, though. Sort of a like the double-slit experiment but with wokeness. Any success of that pairing would be predicated on getting silly, slappy, penis-jokey Dan, not what became Bernstein & Goff Dan, which is the exact worry people had going into Bernstein & Goff and Benrnstein & McDoink. The two of them might not get to breaking down a Clippers-Nuggets quarterfinals playoff match up like B&G did, but takes about Just How Much Smarter LeBron Is Than You would go into hyperdrive.

I think it's a combination of boredom and arrogance that cause most hosts to talk politics. They get bored talking about the same topics everyday and people like Bernstein, Goff, and Parkins feel like they are smarter than 90% of their audience and that the audience will benefit from their opinions. They fail to realize that even if they are smarter than 90% of the audience, the chances of them changing anyone's mind on a political/social issue are next to zero.

Agreed....and the arrogance > boredom factor.
Even Mike North though the listeners would give two shits about his political / current affairs opinions.
