A's rain delay highlights were always my favorite - learning the exploits of Joe Rudi and Gene Tenace.

I get comfort that years from now the youth of Chicago will learn about the great things the A's did in the playoffs this year against the White Sox during the inevitable nuclear apocalypse.

Yep, Collins swings a better bat and can be a 3rd C

Collins? I think I’d rather see Yolmer pinch hitting in a key spot.

EE is old, fat and bad but still good for the occasional dinger. Also one of the few guys on the roster with some decent playoff experience.

I thought that, too, until about a week ago.

Now his most relevant recent experience is watching a called third strike.

Lot of hype for a team that backed into the playoffs for the first time in 12 years thanks to a friendly pandemic playoff system.

If they kept the 5 team playoff this year, Sox still would've been a wildcard team. They have a better record than the 2nd place finishers in any other division and thus would've been in the wildcard game as the 3rd place team in their division, exact same spot your Flubs were in 2015.

Yeah, so they would have still had to win a "play in" game. One game. I don't like the odds with a manager that could fuck up a cup of coffee. But throw your parade of non-accomplishments.

The Sox finished with a better record than the Cubs during what are supposed to be the dynasty years. The Cubs couldn't win more games despite playing in the worse division in modern memory, including the COVID compromised Cardinals.

The Cubs dynasty is past, I think most rational Cub fans can admit that. At best, it's a tepid reaction in Cub nation right now. We certainly aren't dancing to the tune of backing into a CoronaCard Spot, though I think we call all agree it's better Ogie celebrate non-accomplishments than dead cops.

He took the morning off. So hopefully he don't multitask with a pig hung/ bike ride before afternoon baseball.

Thanks for the heads up. I went after work to pick mine up. I could have had as many as I wanted.

"Best player out matters"

As usual top notch analysis from gd

I have to scale back to rudimentary analysis to appeal to the many Cub fans who show such great interest in the Sox.

This game being on ABC makes me want to hear Keith Jackson, Jim Palmer and Don Drysdale on the call. :(

Cub dynasty?

They won a single World Series and two divisions. A great run and a ring means everything, but nowhere near a dynasty.

The Sox won more division titles in the 2000's than the Cubs did in the 2010s

Yes, the Cubs were definitely not a dynasty. I think most people would agree that you have to win three world series bare minimum to be considered a dynasty. The Yankees of the late 90's, early 00's are a good example, they won four world series in five years, easily a dynasty.

I think we can all agree the only measure of success that matters is how many BP Cups stock your trophy case.

Ah.....would be nice. Reminds me of the Baltimore-Pittsburg series when I was a kid. Maybe the Yankees-Dodgers. I also liked Garagiola...or at least he reminds me of that era.

SF Giants fit the mold

The recent Giants were definitely a dynasty however I will seek advice on this from a fanbase of a team that has actually won a playoff game this decade.

Yep, Vin Scully, Garagiola and Tony Kubek, great times. This Week in Baseball prior with Mel Allen.

Tony Kubek! I was trying to think of his name.

TWIB was fantastic. Mel Allen had pretty much the best job in America.
