I hate swinging on the first pitch when a guy just walked someone in. Don't feel good about tomorrow at all. Hope Dunning can show something.

The guy who threw his closer out there for 50 pitches today is dumb enough to do just that so yep.

Give us some of that shit from Valpo

That Samardzija trade sure looks great right now.

The strike call on Mazara really looms large now

There was also the terrible strike call on Grandal that should have made it 3-0 in the 3rd inning rally. He popped up the next pitch for the 2nd out.

doesn't matter. don't start a L vs the Wsox. Start Fiers if I were the A's. Manea will get bombed.

I don't understand swinging at the first pitch after a walk with the bases loaded. He hit it hard, but pretty big fuck up. Working the count isn't his forte though.

Keys to the game:

Keuchel sucked
Madrigal error
3rd inning goose egg in which I determined a terrible call on a 2-0 count to Grandal was the key
And of course, the rifle shot off Abreu's bat right at the 2nd basemen in the 9th.

that's the new MLB. been like that last few years. the traditional thinking of not swinging until the pitcher throws a strike after walking a guy after 4 straight balls is out the window.

I think Abreu determined, rightfully so, that it was going to be the best pitch he gets. I personally had no problem with him first pitch hunting. It left his bat 100MPH, I don't know what more you can ask.

When you're Abreu, you earn the right to swing at any pitch you think you can hit to drive in some runs

A fucking hit. On a day where you had one seeing eye single.

They don't actually let Madrigal start tomorrow, do they?

Yeah I’m not criticizing anything the guy does this year.

They fought back, they lost. Fuck it. Ignore it and go get it tomorrow

I agree. Mediocre starter for the Sox, no closer for the A's. If we're hitting homeruns tomorrow, we should win.

Game 3, who the hell knows who's gonna win? Nobody.

I do agree with a lot of runs. Both teams will score at least 6. Hopefully we get 12 and that should do it.

I don't really disagree with any of this, but the turning point of the game was Madrigal error. Even if he is able to knock that ball down it results in one run. It's a play that should have been made, especially in the playoffs, and if Sox get out of that first inning scoreless then who knows how the rest of the game shakes out.

Aside from worthless EE in the lineup, I thought Ricky managed a pretty good game today all things considered. He loaded up with lefties as Bassitt was running on fumes, we still have Colome, Foster, and Bummer, among others, fresh in the bullpen tomorrow.

I think if the Sox can come out and kick the A's in the teeth early tomorrow they will coast to a victory.
