The Cubs hitters are showing the flaws with constantly working counts to take walks and swinging for the fences. I see guys like Schwarber and Heyward taking strike one on a good pitch right down the middle. I see Rizzo and Schwarber hitting into the shift time and again. Baez pulls off outside pitches. If the hitters went the other way and were more aggressive early in the count, their averages would rise.

Yeah, the constant working of the count is maddening. Schwarber had three plate appearances, with two walks and a flyout. Sounds okay on the surface until you realize that's an OPS of 0.667, which is terrible. Even three walks and an out only gets you to 0.750.

that's exactly what this is. 2015 and 2016 were the best you could get. Baez being the exception, but I don't trust his numbers either.
