It's important that people know this happens to all kinds of women so that they don't have to feel alone, that other people in all economic, social, and ethnic groups feel sad, angry, empty, guilty...all of the emotions that come with the grief. My wife doesn't bring it up in everyday conversation, but she's rather matter of fact and blunt about her miscarriage when the subject comes up.

It's an awful thing.

It's a very dark and personal photograph but inside her mind she thought she can reach out to people by doing this. Obviously some people are jerks.

It's a given that it was a tragedy for her as well as anyone who has experienced one (or more). The question is whether posing for a sympathetic picture is borne from distasteful ulterior motives (more clicks, more thoughts and prayers) vs a laudable goal of sharing with others so they know they're not alone.

I can see both sides, and while I am not outraged over the pic, I am cynical about it.
