To be fair Frank, the article does say ONE of the possibilities is Theo leaving now rather than the end of next year.

Right, its POSSIBLE (plausible).

HY's post, which includes no info or link, states Theo leaving as a fact.

I linked it to the same link but it didn’t show up for some reason.

Anyway he gone. This year or next but he gone.

The subject line needs a question mark at the end.

I do think Theo will leave, because Ricketts will ask him to slash the budget. I'm going to speculate, but I think that $150M is the limit for next year.

Please don’t defend the most annoying poster in board history. I would call his posts worthless, but I wouldn’t want to offend the word worthless.

Either way. When Theo finally leaves he'll be leaving a disaster for his successor.

i dont want crane kenny or hoyer or anyone of these guys who's job was to get Theo Coffee.

Start with someone fresh and outside of the Theo circle.

this team needs a brand new philosophy to hitting and something proven in the current game.

this working the count shit doesnt work anymore. the book's out on the cubs and things have to change.

Cubs have a long history (or curse) of poor talent evaluation. Drafting, trades, (moving guys who thrive after leaving the Cubs), free agents. We all thought that ended with Theo coming to the Cubs. Theo shuffling around his cronies under him who fail drafting is classic Cubs.

The new guy will need to make a few brilliant trades, and steal a Sandberg type. Clean house talent evaluation drafting, clean out dead weight on the roster. Build sustained excellence that Theo promised, but failed at. It'll take a Dallas Green type guy. Not a boot licker. A huge near impossible task.

Nothing is wrong with “working the count.” The problems arise when those who work the count are unable to hit their pitch.

Or even hit a fucking sac fly to the outfield or shorten their swings to move runners over and in.

Being selective at the plate is fine, but the other half is being able to execute productive at bats when those aghead of you in the line actually get on fucking base.

That’s where these assholes have failed massively

Yeah no one really leaves voluntarily in any sport when things are looking up.

There is absolutely no reason for him to return and get one more ride out of this corpse of a team. A new, aggressive GM/pres could use this surely odd offseason to non-tender a whole lot of salary and to then sign some of the other players across the league that are going to be non-tendered.

Boy is Bernsie gonna have a giant let down. No more meetings in the back of the synagogue to plan market inefficiencies. No more new revenue streams. No more waves of talent coming.

Lol. The score is gonna choke on how much they blew the Cubs.

He has always said he wants to move on from a job after 10 years. He did it in Boston as well

he drafted guys who were good. He just didn't foresee them being bad and therefore trading them before the rest of the league caught up to it. The best GM's are predictive, either through luck or some type of honest talent evaluation.

Theo bragging today about the 2020 Cubs top position WAR players returning. Not too high MLB total player war rankings. Heyward 1.3 99th, Happ 1.1-137th, Rizzo- 0.8 near 200th. That would be like Pace bragging the Bears 1st 3 opponents have 1 total win so far combined. I'll hand it to Theo. He's a master BSer.

Parkins was doing his best Bernstein today..."The 2016 Cubs were an all-time great team" and "the day Theo leaves, the Cubs will be worse off." But then he contradicted himself a bit, saying Theo would be leaving the Cubs "a mess."

Yeah those WAR players really raked to the tune of 1 run in 18 innings . Re-sign them all !!!
