That guy Jirschle has won manager of the year and seems to be rising through their minor leagues. Does he speak Spanish? I think that is pretty important with this group of players.

I would bet he would learn if the job required, and he knows some of the current roster.

Since he turned manager, Jirschele has helped groom some of baseball's brightest young stars like Luis Robert, who's currently the third best prospect in all of baseball and is likely to make the big league roster out of Spring Training.

Dumb me says the new guy has to speak Spanish.

Nobody grooms a guy like Robert. You kind of stand there, watch him and try not to fuck him up. Granted this guy could be great some day but if they do (hopefully) replace Ricky it’d help if that person could communicate with the whole team.

Today, I heard Chris Tannehill refer to Ozzie Guillen as a great tactical manager for his ability to handle a pitching staff. He did have the good sense to stay out of the way of his starters during the 2005 World Series run, but I don't remember him being particularly noteworthy as a tactician. On the Matt Spiegel atmosphere provider/tactician continuum, I always thought he was on the atmosphere provider side.

agreed.

He was also a manager that never let his guys, even the veterans, get complacent.
