David Lee Roth just started touring solo again. I bet he makes a ton of money playing VH greatest hits since fans can no longer wait for a reunion

That sucks a lot. No one doesn't like Van Halen.

I'm guessing Frankenstein just became the most valuable guitar in the world.

Yeah Schon is a great player. In the book Van Halen Rising he talked about Van Halen opening for Journey. It was Van Halen going on first then Montrose then Journey. He said he was glad it was Ronnie getting his ass kicked every night instead of him!

High praise

Footage from when VH was still an opening act. It's rough but sounds great. Skip to about the 14 minute mark for the lead ins to you really got me.

VH I debuted just before my 13th birthday- the time of a young man's life that forms much of his musical choices, supposedly. It will always be one of my favorites, and EVH himself, guitar god, rock star of the highest level, married to Valerie Bertinelli on top of it. Can't get any cooler than that. RIP

Saw them live on the Fair Warning and Diver Down tours.

Massively epic.

damn, 3 minutes of having your mind blown. around the 15:40 mark Eddie pauses and bows like he's done and then takes it to another level with his trademark two hand fretboard savagery.

1984 was the first album a young Franky T bought with his own money. Rode my bike up to Appletree Records and spent some of my paper route money.

Rob Gordon dropped the needle on the Pixies Doolittle while I was checking out records there one day. Hearing "Debaser" for the first time was a transcendent experience.

Years later you’d be regaled on a message board how one young lady mistook someone here for Black Francis .

Eddie, the world was a better place with you in it, and sadder now that you've left us. Your music was electric sex, ecstasy delivered to me over frequency modulated magic.
From the serious to the gleefully playful, your work has been an inspiration and an escape for millions.
May you amps never feedback, may your tuning stay true, may your fingers remain nimble, and may you never break an e while performing on the greatest stage ever granted in the heavens.

It makes me sad how old the teachers in the "Hot For Teacher" video must be now.

Check out the bomb Eddie used to use for his effects. It was a real bomb minus explosives of course. Mick Jagger made him get rid of it when they opened for The Stones.

I appreciate your post. He would however want feedback. In fact he used a old variac to increase the voltage to his Marshall head to overdrive the tubes.

Brown sound.

He's #2 in the all-time greats behind Hendrix.

I respect the skill of both of those guys, but have zero desire to listen to either's music again. They have been played to death.
