Another stupid Rube take. Eric Johnson is not a tapper, let alone anywhere near the same genre as Vai and Satriani. You may not care for their music, but at least try and find some guitarists to slag that are at least close to the same bucket.

As for as what JORR says above, I think Eddie never got/gets enough credit for his GROOVE. He was a hell of a RHYTHM player. Listen to his parts during the verses of “Beautiful Girls”, or “Mean Street” as a couple of examples - his swing, and subtle little note or chord choices and changes on different lines of the verses have feel and swing.

Of all things, Page played the violin bow on his guitar and made the most incredible, eerie and haunting sounds with it you've ever heard. His bow playing should be R rated. He also played the mandolin on the Battle of Evermore and the Theremin. He was a genius in every respect.

I'm not saying I don't like EVH. Of course I do. But if you really consider his music critically, he was limited. He explored the Strat very well and was a good synthesizer player. Rarely, did you hear his acoustic guitar playing, only on songs like Ice Cream Man and Dreams. And with Dreams, only at the beginning. I would have liked him to have played acoustic more, but his playing was defined by the flanger sound on electric. You really don't know what an acoustic EVH sounds like. Same thing with Hendrix. Didn't play the instrument that much.

Page didn't model Zeppelin on but anything but himself. If you think otherwise, you are imagining things. He started by copying blues artists and Joan Baez. Acoustically, he was influenced by Bert Jansch and CSN and Scott Mckenzie. When you put all those elements in a black pot, and throw in Aleister Crowley and the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, that's Jimmy Page.
