Damn you. And damn your children. And maybe your children's children.

This would mean the loss of my favorite band's drummer, and if I have to hear Black Hole Sun again...

The heated situation was quickly settled, however, when Thayil offered Cornell a complimentary 12-oz. CarmeLatta Chill. In turn, the 44-year-old lead singer responded by serenading Thayil with a version of the group's hit song "Black Hole Sun" in which he replaced the titular phrase with the word "Cinnabon."

brilliant

i recall boarding a chartered bus in the 8th grade, headed from melrose park to the capital of the great state of illinois, springfield, for the class trip, with the grave knowledge that soundgarden had broken up clouding my enthusiasm. i may have even shed a tear, as i was scheduled to see them later on that summer at what was at the time the rosemont horizon. a black day, indeed.

Some things are just better left in the past. This being said, Down on the Upside is one of my favorite albums of all time and I also felt really disappointed when I heard the news that they had broken up. They certainly went out on a high note. I saw them at the Lollapalooza in '96 at the Winnebago fairgrounds somewhere in Wisconsin. That was an extremely hot and uncomfortable day, but I still had a blast because I was surrounded by good friends & I was able to see a couple of great bands that would never play again. The Ramones played there and it was the one and only time I would get to see them. That was quite an experience. The highlight for me was Soundgarden though as they did a cover of The Doors "Waiting for the Sun". It was one of those absolutely memorable concerts that can never be replicated. 8) 8)

Yeah...I know. It's The Onion. I understand it's not real. I was just reminiscing on one of my favorite bands.

why would anyone want to do that? it's much more fun to fuel the rumor.
