From that perspective I don’t hate it, but you had so many great villains established it doesn’t seem like you need somebody new.

Even if you get rid of Stormfront, there’s an obvious angle to set up homelander and his kid as some uber villain tag team. AOC has antagonized the supes (which the emotionally unstable homelander wouldn’t forgive), killed Govt officials - what’s her constituency? Theoretically her base hates the supes. If she drives up hate to cause a backlash from normal people and provoke some type of conflict, couldn’t an out of control homelander have done the same?

I don’t think Homelander and Ryan will be a tag team. I think they’re setting up Ryan as the only thing on the planet that can kill Homelander. That’s why Butcher and Mallory were hoping he’s “good.”

Right. Point being that if you wanted to set up a supe/civilian conflict, Homelander could’ve started it.

From there, his kid could’ve finished it (if he’s good) or you could create some version of luke/vader with Homelander redeeming himself (which wouldn’t really fit this show, but whatever).

AOC’s only actions to this point have been focused on widening the gap between vaught and the general population. That job seems to be 100% in Homelander’s court.

He literally jerked off on the city.

The kid is Vought’s leverage in controlling Homelander.

As Heisenberg said, the government hopes he’s “good”.

To the writers’ credit they figured out you need to swap out ancillary characters to keep the show fresh.

Sure we could have prolly done another entire season solely focused on Butcher hunting Homelander, but I think we would have gotten fatigued with that storyline.

I mostly liked the new characters, and various plot lines this season.

We won’t know Victoria Newman’s goal until season 3, and I’m good with that.

As Maeve said in the forest, Homelander can’t live without the adoration of his fans.

He could absolutely go rogue, and probably destroy the whole world unless his son proves to be more powerful than him.

(Btw there is a graphic novel called “Irredeemable” that goes into what would happen if a Superman level power type decided to be evil. It’s an ok read.)

Sure, but the AOC character is hardly ancillary at this point.

I don’t know the source material. I just thought the ultimate conflict best represented by Butcher v homelander.

If homelander is subordinated by AOC or otherwise so concerned for his image he shuts down and defers to Maeve/Starlight, how do you explain the past two seasons of character development?

I trust Kripke and the writers to answer those questions.

Homelander is a very complex character on the show, and in the comics.

He seems to find himself in submissive positions, or straight up manipulated by women constantly.

They’ll keep developing him.

Butcher is the worst character on the show. This is not debatable.

He says Caller Bob. That's about it. He exists solely to act as a foil to Homelander. IDGAF about him and his ex. Easily the worst part of the show.

that was a great season and finale. The almond joy thing. The guy who plays Noir has the allergy in real life.
The who subplot with Scientolo0gy and the Nazis was fucking awesome. I am shocked that they let it get on air.

S2 started off very strong, ended a little weak. Perhaps I was expecting too many loose ends to be tied up in the finale.

Season 3 preview video:

Talks about info on Soldier Boy, possible Jeffrey Dean Morgan casting, and much much more.

The graphic novels are referenced, but no major spoilers in this video if anyone is currently reading them.

Maeve is gorgeous.

A natural beauty.

When she is on the screen I can't take my eyes off of her.

finished S2 last night. Started catching up on the thread this morning. Watched this video. In what can only be described as an amazing coincidence I received a new Sweatsedo in the mail yesterday (I buy a new one every year) and it's the exact same one Butcher is wearing in the video. The blue and red one. ONly difference is I had mine customized with a Chicago flag on the front (do that every year as well).

I have the same tastes as the people who work on The Boys. I like that.

My memory is spotted.

what was the MM story about his dad in the tv show? I forgot that part already.

If I'm remembering correctly, in the comics his mom worked for Vought and she got sick. MM was born with a defect where he had to drink his mom's breast milk to stay alive. His dad spent his whole life trying to fight Vought legally and got nowhere. I'm a little foggy on this, but I think that's how it went down in the comic.

Watched the entire S2 in the past couple weeks and have no recollection of his dad even being in season 2. Refresh my memory.

LOVED season 2, even thought it was better than season 1. The best part of S2 was the reimagination of Stormfront's character. They did a mind blowing good job on that. In the comics Stormfront is some old dude who everyone knows was around during WW2 and fighthing for the Nazi's. The way they handled it in the show was so much better.

Liked the reveal at the end. There is no AOC in the comics so this is an entirely new storyline. Of course Hughie ends up working for her. Can't wait to see where that goes next year.

In the comics there is one Supe who can kill Homelander. So far we've seen one clue that the show is not going to go in that direction. Interested to see what they do with that particular character if he's not going to have the same role he does in the comics.
