Roberto Alomar was better. Sandberg arguably was.

The coward Sandberg couldn't carry his jock.

Sandberg was a pretty good baseball player.

I don't know about the coward part, but I totally agree with this statement otherwise. Too many people made choices on Morgan after this career ended and they didn't like him as an announcer or his comments. He was a Great player.

What do you agree with? That Morgan was better or Reader insinuating it's not even close?

Sandberg is a Top 10 all time Second baseman. Morgan was better, but it's not some ridiculous comparison.

I believe that Joe Morgan was a significantly better 2nd baseman in every form of the game.

This.

Because Sandberg wouldn't try on plays that may challenge his fielding numbers.

Joe Morgan was also an on base machine and one of the best base runners of all time. Sandberg was also an excellent baserunner and got on base at a decent clip, but he certainly was not as dominant as Morgan. Joe also may have been the best player in baseball at his peak in the early to mid 70s, Sandberg and Alomar as good as they were never approached that level.

Sandberg was too close to being as good or better...too soon after Joe retired. Thus the resentment.

I was a huge Sandberg fan as a kid but yea, this is true. I do think there were times when Alomar was top 5ish in the game.

Tough comparison...put Sandberg on the BRM and do they skip a beat? NOPE.

Cmon, Morgan was the best player on one of the best teams ever. They probably miss him no matter who replaces him.

I wasn't really trying to downplay Sandberg, but I hold Joe in high company. Many have said those Reds teams were some of the best ever, and for a good period, he was the best player on those teams.

The difference between BB to K ratio is striking.

Seasons with .400 OBP or higher

Morgan 9
Ryno 0

Morgan also was only caught stealing 60 more times despite stealing twice as many bags. 680 steals and 160 CS.

You dont want per game for this point, you want cumulative.
