I loved Hawk. I love Steve Stone too, but I can't recall a game where I enjoyed Benetti. Almost every game I watch he bothers me.

There it is. Every game. All of them.

Get the hook.

I like Benetti better on ESPN. That said, Stone is a tough guy to work with.

Stone is the best. His feel for the game is 2nd to none.

Binetti was really good but after the THANKS CUBS line last year, it went to his head.

He's just gone so over dramatic this year. Even on the most mundane things. No need to do that. Maybe he will come back to earth.

Stone's the best and has been for many years. I feel like if i was the pbp guy w/ stone my job would be super easy.

1) You don't know how to spell his name
2) You have tried to secretly rally Cubs fans against White Sox fans
3) Stone announced for the Cubs 10+ years ago where you currently live

He's learning how to announce for a winning team for a change, that's all. The downside is with all the winning we won't be able to get another Walton game in.

I like him normally. Just got too talky tonight.

I agree. Sometimes you just have to let the game speak for itself and low key the commentary. And he does overdo the questions and banter with Stone.

I LIKE YOU TOO but you are a bit wordy and you bring up some weird old things sometimes and you wanted to get with a Hawaiian hotel hooker or something I don't know what that was about. I kind of feel like you've just gone so over dramatic this year. Even on the most mundane things. No need to do that. Maybe you will come back to earth.

Benetti was so disingenuous when he was on with Spiegs and Bernsie today.

Dan asked him when he got an inkling that a move like this could be in the offing.

And Benetti said he didn’t have an inkling until this morning. Huh?

He also always sounds like he’s out of breath or on the verge of tears when he’s on the Score. Is that how he sounds calling games?

Could that be a result of his cerebral palsy?

That’s why I asked if he normally sounds that way.

I thought part of his answer on that was spot on and couldn’t have been more honest. He talked about how loyal ownership was. He said he thought a move like this could happen after the Bulls made their moves and hired Billy Donovan but still didn’t think they would. Reinsdorf run teams usually hold on to coaches and employees too long. Launching 2 coaches under contract is not typical for them.

I get that.

Steve Stone took a different approach. He said. “Yes.” As in yes he saw this move coming. I think anyone with a pulse did.

Coop being ousted is the surprise. Not Renteria

Who gives a shit if Benetti saw this coming or not. He's the fucking PBP guy. He calls the game. He's good at his job. I wouldn't expect him to answer any differently.

Benetti is terrible as a guest on sports radio... he tries to be a funny guy and he ends up the only guy laughing at his jokes

He is employed by the White Sox. He is not going to speak freely on this. Steve Stone is a completely different animal here and yeah, you might get some sort of honest opinion out of him. Benetti will just tow the White sox company line....and he did.

My point is the question itself was stupid.

Benetti and the White Sox have mutually agreed that he has no opinion.

Really? I completely disagree. This is a totally un-White Sox move.

Besides, it is possible that he thought that Renteria should be replaced but that doesn't mean he had an inkling that he would actually be replaced.

It is. But it also shows who has grabbed the wheel of power. It's safe to say Hahn had 1/3 of the decision to hire Renteria. The next decision is 99% his.

Les played the Bernstein, Speigel, Benetti discussion of RR firing. It was troubling for the future of sports media. Benetti hinted at his in game failures. But all three mostly praised him. Any faults were vague like transparency willing to be open with the media, comparing it to college coaches. Questioning his baseball iq seemed mostly off limits. Benetti is very dry without a funnyman by his side to work with.
