THE next Super Bowl is really going to rock. This year, Tom Petty rocked the halftime crowd at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. But Super Bowl XLIII on Feb. 1 in Tampa will feature Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, sources said. "He was just confirmed," a spy added. "Little Stevie (Van Zandt) has already rented out the Hard Rock Café for a party." A Boss rep didn't return calls or e-mails.

The Superbowl haftime music show is becoming about as predictable as Mac's Friday feature. It's either Petty, Springstein , the Stones or U2 or AREOSMITH. I would be shocked if one year the NFL would have a guy like Kanye West and in the same token I would be shocked if Mac had a Friday feature band other than Zep, AC/DC or the Stones.

Petty is ok, but on stage his band is about as boring as watching grass grow. At least Bruce will bring some energy to the halftime stage.

Energy? last time I saw the Heartbreakers they played about 20 songs. That's energy, man.

You can have energy and not stand like a statue on stage. 20 songs isn't all that long of a show either.
