Move this if you must Mods, but I’ve gotta vent a little bit here.

Apparently, Gen Z has made it their mission to cancel Chris Pratt.

You know the funny doofus from Parks and Rec, the New Jurassic World movies, and Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 1&2.

They are mad because Pratt hasn’t come out and supported Joe Biden.

He hasn’t supported any candidate.

As a result of him not showing support for Biden, Pratt has been called a white supremacist.

Once again. He hasn’t supported either candidate.

They are also mad Pratt belongs to a church that supported gay conversion therapy up until 2009.

Pratt has never once expressed any homophobic views, but that hasn’t stopped MANY on social media from brigading every one of his posts calling him just that.

I must remind you the United States didn’t completely legalize gay marriage until 2015.

So earlier today RDJ made a post on IG defending Pratt that was flooded with hyper sensitive adults and teenagers calling for RDJ to also be cancelled.

Now I am center left on some issues and progressive on others, but I am totally lost when I see so MANY fucking people trying to censor anything conservative they don’t agree with. That does not lead to a society I want to be a part of.

I have family and friends who are Trump supporters. Do I agree with MANY of their views? No. I do agree they have the 1st amendment right to piss me off tho, and that’s fine.

How does a whole generation get so lost on social media?

Yeah, I’m a comic book nerd, and that’s prolly why this is more annoying than usual for me.

This country just ain’t looking good right now.

They get lost on it because it's easy to get lost in a mob, which has all social media has become.

i like chris pratt. i like that he wasn't afraid to share his faith when he won the MTV movie award last year. even though he's not exactly living a christian existence while getting divorced and falling into some celebrity cliches, he still seems like a good guy.

his speech, in which he shared a message of his faith, was not completely aired. it was edited to not include him mentioning god.

The star briefly thanked family, friends and his son, Jack, before addressing the younger generation in a speech he called “Nine Rules from Chris Pratt.” In it, the star mixed advice about how to be a good person with more humorous advice such as how to discreetly defecate at a party and how to properly feed a dog medicine.

Notably, three of the nine parts of the speech had to do with Pratt’s faith.

“God is real. God loves, you, God wants the best for you,” he said as the sixth installment in the list. “Believe that. I do.”

“Learn to pray,” Pratt continued in his eighth bullet on the list. “It’s easy, and it’s good for your soul.”

The star finally concluded with a note about grace.

“Nobody is perfect. People are going to tell you you’re perfect just the way you are - you’re not. You’re imperfect,” he said. “You always will be. But, there is a powerful force that designed you that way. And if you’re willing to accept that, you will have grace. And grace is a gift. And like the freedom that we enjoy in this country that grace was paid for with somebody else’s blood. Don’t forget it. Don’t take it for granted,” he said to applause from the crowd.

why that was censored, shows a pretty weak-minded bias against it. i'm an agnostic if anything, but i don't believe in censoring people's faith.

We must be running out of people to cancel if the knives are out for Chris Pratt.

It's part of the larger culture war that's been going on for years. Look at the "protests" that went on a Northwestern over the weekend. Or the Spotify employees looking to walk-out over Joe Rogan. We have to stand-up to these people now, before their attempts to implement utopia irrevocably break the functioning parts of society further.

It's ridiculous.

Is this what happens when you have a generation of people who were rarely told "No" as children?

Strange that people who want to force others into compliance either through physical intimidation or by threatening them with their livelihood call other people fascist.

@WZ

I agree with your post.

You can also count me as agnostic.

The MTV censoring is very strange, and concerning.

They are being so overused the words fascist and white supremacist are seriously losing their meaning.

This is THE reason I am voting for Trump. Liberal censorship. There isn't anything in this country that pisses me off more than censorship.

It's the reason I left the democratic party 6,7 years ago and it's the reason I now hate that party and consider it more evil than even the religious right.

Do these young gay, trans, and overtly woke people not understand that mass censorship can lead to a situation like China where free speech isn’t free.

A place where you can disappear for saying the wrong thing about the government?

These people embarrass me as a left leaning person.

They don’t know anything about the rest of the world. When the other side is literally Hitler how can China be worst? If the country is inherently racist why is it worth keeping?

I think people have to come to the realization that the far left is essentially marxist and that marxism and religion cannot coexist.

I'm an unabashed liberal and I've finally awoken to that truth. I worked campaigns for years and it could never be openly said because so many of the candidates were Catholics. However, you would always hear little bits of it from the young staffers, especially when discussing the abortion issue (or really the abortion non issue for the overwhelming majority of the electorate).

That's not to say I'm comfortable with the mingling of religion and politics by the far right that has occurred during my adult life.

It's a confusing world right now

yep, it all comes down to who do you dislike more, the communist far left or the religious far right? I'm not planning on having any abortions or entering into an gay marriages anytime soon so the choice is easy for me.

CNN even saying Pratt is allegedly a Trump supporter in this article.

Also, a horrendous headline for a corporation that is supposed to report the news.

Send these woke woke people to Uganda or Chechnya to espouse their pro LBGT views, and see what happens to them.

The US is very progressive compared to a lot of places in this world.

There are things that are wrong and not covered by "it's just my opinion" though

Gay conversion therapy would be one of those imo

Holding a guy responsible because he was part of a group that did it 11 years ago is ridiculous though.

i don't think they realize it and i think if you tried to tell them, they'd accuse you of "mansplaining" or some dumb shit like that.

this is why i don't call these people liberals. they're alt-left. they're shitslingers on par with wing nuts like michael savage and alex jones, people who also railed about canceling people (although not using that word specifically). ditto ann coulter.

One of my friends/roommates in college was gay. When he came out to his very conservative parents they sent him to see a Christian psychologist for what I suppose was conversion therapy, although I don't know if that's what it was called at the time. He only went a few times.

Tad: Hey Joe, how'd it go?
Joe: Well, I still want to have sex with guys, so I don't think it's working.

Pretty funny movie about that "But I'm a cheerleader"

Turns out having camps for horny gay teens where they live with other horny gay teens doesn't have the desired effect

Pratt also voted for Obama in 2012.

Lot of people have been saying that cancel culture would run out of "conservative/right wing" targets and start to cannibalize themselves.

It’s funny to think Pratt could just be so underwhelmed by Biden that he doesn’t really want to show public support.

Or he could be, gasp, a Bernie Bro.

Or he just doesn’t place a psychotic emphasis on politics in his personal life.
