Longtime WLS-TV anchor.

Got his law degree later in life.

Went on to sue me.

RIP

This is funny. I remember being at a scouting jamboree in Yorkville and a little Pitt. The guest stars were country Joel Daly and a mock up of R2D2.

looks like we've lost all the channel 7 news icons from the 70s. channel 2's kurtis, jacobson and morris still around. never really watched channel 5.

remember them breaking in for special reporting when the L train accident occurred in 1977, i believe.

rip.

He and his group (the Sundowners) used to play frequently at the country dive Double R Ranch that was under the Woods Theater. It's now banquet space for Petterino's.

Hopefully Linda Yu doesn't go join Joel anytime soon.

Was that the one where the train car left the elevated tracks and landed on the street? I remember wondering if they were going to find someone flattened underneath.

that's the one. i was 10 and watching channel 7, probably for 'battle of the network stars' or a show like that - and fahey and crew took over the tv. a month later, that reporting was engrained in my mind when i sat in the motorman car on the lake street L; being taken downtown to watch the movie 'king kong'. i breathed a sigh of relief once we got over the river.

I always remember that as much for the guys trying to climb into the L cars so they could fake injuries and sue.

But I don't remember the car crashing to the street.

my grandpa was seriously hurt in the crash

I was too young to process any of it. We were very close. I just remember hearing he was in the crash. He was in the hospital and I hung out at my cousins for a couple of weeks during the day. Then he came back without his front teeth. I told him I had fun while he was away. Everyone yelled at me but they didn't understand that I meant it was fun at my cousins. Weird repressed memory you guys just shook loose
